HJ60 cruiser power steering box

Post by sambo »

My power steering has been groaning for a while now and has recently been leaking from the top seal on the box, I had it looked at today and they quoted me $750 for a change over box, plus fitment. I got a second quote from pedders and they wanted $876. It all seems a little much to me. Does this price sound right to people or is there a cheaper way of doing this.

Cheers

A cheaper way would be to source a second hand pump and box yourself, then pay to have it fitted. It's straight forward to fit, and only a couple of hours work.

The groaning you mention is possibly the pump, not the box, although as it's leaking you will need to fix or replace both.
The worst part about being told you have Alzheimer's, is that it doesn't just happen once.
