Tyres

Post by Dopefish »

Hey I'm getting some tyres and rims next week for the car and I found some tyres that are 31 x10.5 x15 with no rims.

It's for an 84 hilux.

A) Are these too fat for the hilux? Will I need some special stuff to make it work?

B) What rims can I get for it?? I see sunrasiar rims and they all say like 15x8 or 15x7 and so on, but I dont get it really.

thanks

yes they will fit no problem.

15 x 7 is 15 inch diameter rim, same as the 15 in the tyre.

the 7 is how wide the rim is, 7 is perfect for a 10.5 wide tyre, 8 would also be fine i think, but 15 x 7 is cheap and common.

the only other thing you need is to make sure the rim has a negative offset of about 22mm (i think) or more, so the tyres sit out and dont contact pitman arms etc.

go with a 15x8, the 31s will still fit good and you won't have to get another set of rims later on if you want a bigger tyre

and you shouldn't need to do anything to fit 31s to a standard hilux

to help you ill explain the size of one ..265/75/16

265 is the cap width in mm so 265mm divided by 25.4 = 10.43 inches

75 is the series or proflie (height of side wall) depending on what skool you went to but it is the percentage of the total cap width so 75% of 265 ...

16 is the rim dia in inches

hope this helps you out
