Vitara rear disc brake conversion
Vitara rear disc brake conversion
A mate of mine wanted rear disc brakes for his Vitara, so I have developed a kit.
It is a completely bolt-on conversion.
It uses standard Suzuki front brake rotors, and common brake calipers from a Mitsubishi Galant, which include a handbrake in the caliper and are sized correctly to work without an additional proportioning valve.
The kit connects the stock Suzuki handbrake cable to the caliper with no modifications to the cable required.
The kit contains:
Caliper mounting brackets
Disc mounting adaptors
Replacement caliper handbrake quadrants
Handbrake cable brackets
Brake hose brackets & clips
Handbrake cable mounting hardware
Longer wheel studs
All required mounting bolts
Brake hard lines pre-flared with nuts.
3-way T piece
Instructions
The only parts required are:
Mitsubishi calipers and brake hoses
Suzuki brake discs
Brake fluid.
Silicone sealer / gasket maker
Can be installed with simple hand tools in a few hours.
Price is $350AU + shipping

I was interested, but the kit looks very amateurish and back yard to me, I like a bit more time spent on the presentation (just look at how the splits in the spring washers aren't aligned ) and don't even start me on the drunken flat washers
Cable bracing is the way of the future!

Lol... Dammit, I knew I missed something. Oh well. Back to the drawing board.droopypete wrote:I was interested, but the kit looks very amateurish and back yard to me, I like a bit more time spent on the presentation (just look at how the splits in the spring washers aren't aligned ) and don't even start me on the drunken flat washers

Either Vit or Sierra will fit, but Sierra line up slightly better, as the vit ones have 1mm more offset, so the disk may not end up quite in the centre of the caliper.Remydog05 wrote:When you say Standard Suzuki Rotors do you mean Sierra or Vit?
Will this only go on the Rear Vit or would it go on to the sierra with perhaps a different bracket?
This kit is specific to a Vit as the caliper bracket has a different bolt pattern, and the disc adaptor is different too.
Do not fear though, my Sierra kit is nearly ready too

A serious question this time (no realy ) in the pic you have 2 coiled brake lines but I can only see 2 flare nuts, are the other 2 nuts out of shot somewhere or am I missing something?
Peter.

The other two nuts are hiding at the bottom of the pic. You can _just_ see them in the shadow.droopypete wrote:A serious question this time (no realy ) in the pic you have 2 coiled brake lines but I can only see 2 flare nuts, are the other 2 nuts out of shot somewhere or am I missing something?
