1HZ Injector pump overhaul ?????

New to Toyota diesels !!!

My new truck has just ticked over 200K.
I am about to put a new set of injectors in it.
Does the injector pump require mintenance or recoing at any perticular intervals.
There are now leaks and no noticable problems.

the pumps don't need regular servicing. they are quite reliable. I wouldn't bother unless you have problems that may indicate the pump is at fault. they are an expensive item to repair. 200k isn't old for the motor or pump but things around it like alternator/starter are getting on. save your cash for when something else needs done.

I went to a diesel specialist to get a price on replacing the Injectors, and they were recommending i overhaul the pump ???
Or were they upselling ???

did they give you an explanation as to why they think it needs rebuilding? did they do some testing to determine that it needs it? I would be suspicious, takes a lot of fun tickets to rebuild, especially if its not needed.

They say at 200K the piston and pump housing would be wearing, and i sould be getting it recoed.

I am considering a turbo install soon, and it has been surgested to have a boost compensator fitted to the pump, maybe thats the time to have it fully recoed ???

Seems that the do wear badly and a reco is a bit of a waste of time, the housing needs full replacement when worn (quite common) and most times a new pump is what is needed,
THE GRASS MAY BE GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE BUT YOU STILL GOTTA MOW IT.

It can be done in steps. Make a decision when its time, fitting a boost compensater is the right thing to do when removing the pump. Yes things wear with age, remember that the only thing that goes through a pump is fuel, its life expectancy is determibned by the cleanliness and quality of fuel.
