Air con options

Post by Tim356 »

I've got a tintop LWB that I've put a 1.3L donk in and WT diffs and I'm wondering what I can do to combat the QLD heat. What options are available for air con? Jimny? Later sierras?

Please don't give me the "open your windows" line...

I'm assuming you mean a LWB tin top ute?

Retrofit a vitara setup. It will be lots of work tho. Or buy a sierra setup. They are rare, but do pop up from time to time.

Yep, a ute.

What would be involved with fitting the vitara setup? Mounts for the pump, the unit under the dash?

Check out a hot rod supply shop they will have retro fit ac units. Also look at maybe insulating the cab better and running a safari roof, basically another roof sitting a couple of cms above the existing roof, tint the windows

Hot rod supply shop sounds like a good idea. Anyone know any in Brisbane?

Some early lada's were retrofited with an a/c unit that is similar to the ones the hot rod shops use. It is a very simple looking unit but works quite well, theres heaps of lada's on the scrap heaps so finding one should be easy.
