I have finally given up on the snake knuckle, it is a great idea poorly executed, I have now ordered an OTT hi steer kit after years of hanging shit on this style of hi steer attachment and I am going to fit the old Z link while I wait for delivery .

I don't want this thread to be locked for vendor bashing so anyone who wants to comment please stick to your own facts and not hearsay.
My knuckle was not machined accurately, it sits below and forward of centre, I have spoken to people who have machined the bottom of theirs and got it to point that they are happy, I have machined mine and while it is now centre on the horizontal plane it is still out on the vertical plane and although I am sure the felt seal will now seal on the ball end of the housing (something it has never done before, letting both oil out and water in ) I am not happy.
To clarify, if you assemble the swivel housing and fit the axle, brakes and stub axle, with the swivel housing at 90 degrees (driving straight ahead) the axle will rotate freely by hand, if you turn the swivel housing 5 degrees it will start to bind and any more will cause it to lock, I am just not prepared to risk my spanky new chro mo front axles in such a badly machined part, as I said in the original post " a great idea poorly executed".

What brand of steering attachment have you decided to go with Pete?
I believe your problem with the SR highsteer is the same one that I experienced Here.
Whilst my solution with machining improved the situation greatly, time has shown that things are still not perfect with my SR knuckle.
It's a recurring issue that hasn't been addressed by the manufacturer.

i have a home made bolt on high steer system using standard nuckles and brackets that bolt on were the brake calipers are. works well all though not as strong as some.
its suposedly set up to run the standard steering configuartion above the springs.
after looking at your link its nearly exactly the same. but i'm still running a rockrod draglink under the springs.

You can't get him to talk to you when you want to buy something let alone when you have a problem, mnemonix has the same issue and got no joy either

I have just had a look at my snake Hi-steer and mine is leaking as well. I have noticed it before and was going to do a hub rebuild, but now that I have read this I am thinking its the Hi-steer instead causing the leak.
Anyone want to buy it, I think I will be going the Lowrange way and just use the bracket they sell. At least then I know nothing will leak.

Sure no problem from me, I would bet that mnemonix and now Jaczook, would be interested in the feedback.

I've got photos of mine and my experiences with this product linked in the URL in one of my posts above.
I emailed snake racing twice, but never recieved a reply.
I found some advice online about the issue and worked on a temporary solution at the time (some machine work to improve tolerances), so never felt the need to pick up the phone to take it further.
Over time though it has shown that this knuckle is still causing me more grief than it should. I drive my sierra significantly less than I would like to because of the issues the SR product has caused.

If has been machined incorrectly as mine has (and it would be fair to assume this) your mods may have got it straight on the vertical plane but it is still out on the horizontal plane and this can not be fixed.
I just can not see how you can go to the trouble of getting it cast and then machined, while working to incorrect drawings.
One other thing that has always irked me is the angle of the drag link rod end, that was another thing that was machined incorrectly in my opinion, do any of you guys have a pic? my Snake racing knuckle is now holding a door open
Peter.

Pete, unless you have purchased your OTT kit already, check out the OTT stage II from Rocky Road, I reckon it is great.
It utilises the kingpin and caliper mounts, and is custom made for your lift...
