Vitara Viscous Fan

I've done a bit of searching but i've come back with several answers to this question so i thought i'd post it here.

I've had my vitara for 5 years now and its never missed a beat, however its always had a temperature gauge that won't move passed about 1/8 on the gauge. (sits just on what i asume is the warm up line)

Now I've tried all the usual suspects, thermostat, sender unit, coolant pressure tests, the whole deal the car is in perfect running order.

This brings me to the viscous fan, as far as i can see its working, plenty of movement when the engine's off, however it does seem a little hyper active. Could this be causing the problem?

And if so, can it be repaired ?

put a mech/elect temp gauge on and see what ur gauge is doing

Because its been tested, i've tested the sender unit to make sure it working fine. when tested using either current, or a boiling hot water you can see the full deflection on the instrument cluster.

The thermostat was tested the old fashioned way, taking it out and diping it in hot water to make sure its opening and closing.

The water in the radiator is def warming up

My Sierra never gets above about 1/8th on the temperature gauge... Its not a big issue...

my guess is it is the gauge. cause even if the fan is runnin flat out. the thermostat will still keep it warm. and i think it is a good idea to fit an aftermarket gauge as i dont trust stock ones. i got a electric speco one for about 80 bucks and its spot on and works every time.
