Head gasket. Leaking into cylinder and out exhaust. That's why you can't find the leak.

Sounds like a small headgasket leak. The missfire in the morning is the coolant that leaked into the cylinder overnight. Is your oil milky. Get a mechanic to carry out a "TK" test. This checks if you have combustion gas escaping into your cooling system.

head gasket failure or cracked head. Mine had same symptoms but like you said ran fine when up to temp.
I went with a brand new head had it sorted for LPG. It wasnt cheap but a very straight forward job.
around 2grand from memory and went with a VRS gasket kit with NEW head bolts.

Whst did they do to it for LPG? All aluminium heads have pressed in hardened valve seats as standard.

Hope you didn't pay them to get it 'sorted' for LPG...

mine has a small hole in the head, we're talking a pin hole that very slowly leaks water into one of my spark plug wells. I'd say it's head gasket but TB42's are pretty bad for cracking heads etc.

well
the problem has got a lot worse so im thinking cracked head
i topped up the radiator 2 days ago
driving last night on the freeway, heard a little enging knock then the temp spiked bad,
i limped it home
cracked the radiator cap and it was absolutly bone dry, checked the oil, no water there so i think it must be a hole or crack from one of the water galleries in to the cylinder,
so i think i might need a new head and depending on how bad i cooked it a new motor i think

,
on a side note what price is am i looking at roughly to swap it over to a td42 , i can get and engine and turbo setup cheap enough but im not sure what else ill need to change over (fuel tank, fuel lines, radiator, p/steering pump, alt, starter, )
