70 swb cruiser
Just wanting to settle a debate with a friend, are all bj70 bj73 bj74 ect classed as bundera's?? Or is a bundera a mid wheel base. also did they come with coils and leaves? A rundown on these creatures would be appreciated cheers!
No, the BJ 70, 73,74 and 75 all have the bigger diffs/running gear, had the same front end panel wise, and all run on leaves.
Bundera's have a slightly differant front apron/guard design and sit on coils front and rear. Plus have smaller diffs/running gear similar to, if not some of the same parts Hiluxes have.
Bundera has a shorter wheel base than the SWB cruiser. So definately not a mid wheel base!

cheers pricey, so what is the model code for a bundera? and does the lighter running gear detract from the bundera's that much? Am planning on picking up one or the other but haven't decided on which (has to be a diesel tho). Would love a coiled one but not at the expense of strenght or reliability.
Bundys are LJ70/RJ70 i think. Think of a bundy pretty much as a coiled hilux with a different body. They have strength pretty much the same as a hilux but they are heavier. Suspension is 3 link radius arm front and rear, very similar to the front of a 80 series

in other countrys you could get the bundy 73 MWB or 74 if it had a turbo with coils etc and hilux snot
these were know as the prado yes you could get a swb mwb and lwb prado
the front bonnet and guards are shorter than the HD 7x series cruisers as they only have to cope with the length of a 4cyl motor and the front bit of the chassis were the bull bar bolts and were the front body mounts are on the chassis are closer to the fire wall as such than the HD 7x series
So if its a shorty or middy (no middy bundy in aus)and has coils its a bundy
if its a shorty or middy with 4x leaf srpings its a heavy duty cruiser with same running gear as the 75 series utes
