Hi there, anybody know what type of gog is used on the thomas pto drive,
not the one that bolts to the gearbox but the one that bolts to the back of the transfer box.
not sure if thomas winches still have spare parts or if they still around.
Rick

mq pto drive
will be easier for me to take a pic than to explain good. will try
Basically they have they replace the gear on the back of the main shaft-transfer and put theirs on which then the pto gear bolts too. They are pretty much the same PTO mech as the other thomas.
The question is how to strip and check the pto unit before i fit it.
Big drawback i see is that the gear runs on the splines if the main shaft. I have a main shaft that has almost stripped splines. If they do strip i loose drive to the transfer case as well.
Much prefer the orig on the syde of gearbox style pto.

With mine, the orig gear had a shoulder on each side approx 5mm, to fit the pto the gear needed to have the rear shoulder machined off - allowing approx 5mm of spline to hang out the back of the gear, the pto gear then went onto this spline, the back of the pto gear is counterbored so the standard nut sits in the standard spot on the thread (as the pto gear is a lot wider than 5mm) - if that makes any sense.pongo wrote:which then the pto gear bolts too
Thomas powauto should sell the part, i emailed archerfield engineering and was refered to these guys "Advanced Trailer Spares on 07 3345 7144"
I was chasing a GQ pto drive tho - may be worth a call.
There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots
