WAECO CDF-11- bloody brilliant bit of gear.
I have been using mine for about a week in the work truck. Is a pearler. Set it to freeze and will cool a 1.25 bottle down to a nice cold temp in about an hour.
holds about 12 cans i think. has a spot for a 1.25 bottle upright but will sqeeze in a 2 litre on an angle.
BUT get this, this is the bit i want to share. It fits nicely between the front seats, where the console is. Perfect for the long drive to the camp spot before the big engel gets a workout as we do our arm exercises. Its gunna get well used when we go to the drive in as well.
I love it and dreaded the thought of a waeco as i love my engel. Still wont fit between the seats of a 404 kenworth day cab, but is happy on the passenger floor. Might hit the boss up to rip out the passenger seat so i can fit my engel
Cost me $450 from kenworth last week. Usually about 500.
Its on 24/7 in the truck, so ill soon find otu how reliable it is.

They're great for anyone who works in or out of their truck/car. You can bring a decent pack lunch and stop relying on take away. You'll soon save the 450 bucks.sudso wrote:Nice little fridge but $450 to keep a few cans cold?
The worst part about being told you have Alzheimer's, is that it doesn't just happen once.
Yeah true it wouldn't be hard for a trucky or sales rep to clock up a $450 takeaway bill but how many people who work from their car or truck actually make a packed lunch everyday?oldmate wrote:They're great for anyone who works in or out of their truck/car. I'm not dissin them, they are a great convenience but personally I couldn't justify the cost to have one myself. Whenever it's time to eat we always have to stop and raid the main fridge anyway. The drinks are drunk before they go warm.

Just a bit of an update. There is a thread on patrol4x4.com about an install into a gu ute, so i figured i might as well give my update here as well.
These little fridges are absolutely amazing. will chill a 1.25 coke bottle down in an hour from room temp. I use mine in the truck for the last 18 months and love it as much as my 40 litre engel. You can just squueze 2x1.25 bottle of coke just, and not much more. I usually get in it 3-4 cans, cheese, ham, mayo, 1l long life milk in it. enough for a days supply of drinks and a week of sandwich food. The cup holders are fantastic too for cans, never lost one yet and most spillages stay in the cup holder containing the mess.
The leads are too short and the ciggy lighter plug are crap. i lengthened mine with a engel lead. They also wont get below +7 in summer if left in a locked/parked car and struggle in direct sun. they do have a spot to run a seat belt to aid in fastening. My hinge pins are starting to slide out and need tapping back in every now and then. Ive lost my top rubber pab as well, but only seems to hold grime and was very hard to clean.
Great for an arvo fishing trip, icecreams, picnics, etc. take sabout 5 mins to get to a good temp, unlike a big fridge
Cant wait to use it in my boat. Perfect drinking fridge, can hold 6 cans and if cranked to freeze you need to drink quick to keep up.
It will definatly have a place in this household, right next to my 40l engel. The day it dies is the day ill buy another one without question.
Note: they still wont fit between the seats in a Kenworth 404SAR day cab with gear stick, but will squeeze on passenger floor ok.

Hey Pongo... is this bad boy a thermo-electric fridge or is it a compressor driven fridge?
EDIT - I see it appears to be a compressor driven fridge. Here it is on ebay for $360: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WAECO-CDF11- ... 43a9132ab1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

indubitably

every second bloke has a 40l engle on their tray (no canopy), rain or shine up here. so long as you have the cover for them they'll perform for ever.

I use an esky bag and 2 ice bricks. Sure theres all the manual labour of putting ice bricks in the freezer every night, and putting them in the esky bag every morning. But i think for $450 i will keep doing it!
