ok guys, iv got a 94 mj triton (l200), done little over 400 k km, i am gradually fixing it all up and the most recent work was to re index the torsion bars and wind them up to correct how they have sagged with age and use. when i did this i also got new tires- just 31's- and got a wheel alignment. everything was fine. yesterday i went out to do a little more to her and discovered that the passenger front left tire is cocked out at the bottom by nearly an inch more than it should be. (its now running on the inside shoulder of the tire)
i have jacked it up (from the chasis to allow any play to manifest itself) and aside from a little movement in the wheel bearings there is no other play anywhere. what else should i look at?

Yeah you gotta watch those control arm bolts they are known to come loose and you can loose the shims.
Despite repeated efforts this happened every time after several hard trips on my NH.
I replaced the factory bolts with high tension ones with nylocs - never had a problem after that.

thanks for the ideas, i pulled the lot apart and there is nothing out of place, i still suspect ball joints and will replace them soon as i can. she does have shims but they pull the control arm in as you add more- making the prob worse. i have corrected the wheels alignment to within 3-5 mm, but to do it i had to remove ALL shims from the passenger side upper control arm. least it steers now. its as if the upper control arms fine but the lower has somehow moved out almost 2 inches- but all the bushes etc check out fine.
i did the push side to side hard too, no knocking. but it does knock as soon as i hit gravel roads and corrugations. plan of attack next is ball joints,
