Waeco 3 way not working on gas?

Post by BundyRumandCoke »

We are on a trip away to Tassie at the moment. Last night, we went to run our Waeco CA-35 on gas, but it would not keep going. We could light the pilot light, but when we went to turn the knob to keep it going, the light would extinguish. No matter what I did, I could not keep it going. This is the first time I have wanted to run it on gas.

I found a Waeco service agent here in Launceston, and took it to him. He told me he gets $85 from Waeco for the warranty fix. He showed me what he does for his $85.

He pulled the gas knob off, cut a small piece of plastic about 3-4mm long, say a piece of zippy tie, and put it in the knob where the dial shaft goes, a dob of silicone to keep it in place, then put the knob back on the shaft. Hey presto, it works fine. Total time, about 15 seconds. Apparently it is something to do with the knob being too low, and hitting the cabinet underneath it. Raise the knob away from the cabinet, and all will be good.

And please, no smart arse comments about knobs on shafts, or raising knobs, ect.

Cheers
Bundy
