SPECS FOR NEW 10000LB FAST RECOVERY WINCH
Moderators: toaddog, TWISTY, V8Patrol, Moderators
I think i'm the first in the country to have this winch fitted . It's really long. I had to modify my bullbar to take the length of it
As you can see i had to chop the bar a little bit to fit it in
Heres a video so you can see the speed of the winch with no load, after this we hooked it up to a 100 series and pulled it to get some tension onto the spool. It did it quite easliy and didn't get too hot over a 20m pull.

According to the specs, it is under load where it shines. See if you can get a comparison to a high mount.

fitted mine up last night, maybe a test this w'end, would be nice if it had captive threads (like a warn) for the 4 bottom mounting bolts. bit of a pain trying to get the nuts into place when you have to mount it with the bar on. apart from that itchng to test her out.....

thtats true, i thought if you had 10mm longer bolts to go thru the fairlead and the bottom of the winch would be easier

i got to use it today, i pulled up to winch a tree off the road that had fallen due to the cyclone this morning. I noticed when i tried to plug the controller in that it arked on the control box and mad the winch wind in a bit for a second. Is this a common problem and is there something to do to fix it?

Wondering if i should buy one of these or a 2ND hand warn high mount....
1. Am making a custom bar so size is not an issue
2. I am a electronics tech so rebuilds for the warn are the same
3. Am only pulling a small cab hilux ute
4. Mates hace GUs with upgraded warn high mount and we will race the winches
5. 3 YEAR WARRANTY means nothing if I have to send the winch off for repairs as aposed to getting replacement parts
6. Would me doing custom in cab wiring for both so the contoler issues are not important, un less this voids the warranty.

4: So do you mean ,you ring me tell me the motor is rooted ,so i send you a new motor ?? You tell me the gear box is rat shit so i send you a new one ??
We dont repair motors and we dont repair gear boxes we dont repair solenoids or wireless or hand remotes ,,We replace them if they come under warranty, you would need to send the part back before it was replaced. And we would judge if it hasnt been misused.
6: We dont have an issue with you putting a in cab switch,,,, if you installed one and you say the winch wasnt working we would ask you send the entire control box back including your wiring,,for us to look at ,,every winch and solenoid gets tested prior to leaving the factory so we know its highly unlikely a DOA will occur.

Im here for the sausage!
I ran the original 10,000lb winch at last 2 Tuff Trucks and last Toperi challenge.mnemonix wrote:I hear Team DGR are running a 2speed Tigerz11 one at TT2010 after recieving some sponsorship.MR.MUD wrote:Hope someone does run one in a comp, would be interesting.
Will be great to see how the new winches perform under pressure.
I prefer to drive then winch, but when i have had to use it the thing performs great.
I was keen on a highmount, but now i see the specs for the 10,000lb comp winch i think i might invest in it instead.
Paul,
Mate can you give me an indication on how much longer each end the new 10,000lb winch is compared to the 2 yr old original 10,000lb winch?
I am wanting to use the same bar and mounting holes if possible.
Cheers

Apart from the extra length being an issue for some bars i think these will move pretty quickly. I have an operable one on display in the show room so you can see how fast it pulls with no load.
I can see these ending up in comps.

For those interested,
The 10000lb comp winch is a little too long on the motor side for the Patrol Docta GQ Winch bar of which the winch bucket is 620mm in width. The mounting holes need to be redrilled about 20mm across to fit the winch.

What I'd like to know is are there going to be parts sold separately for these. If I buy one then I'll definately be modding it to get more out of it. This may be as little as running 24v through it with in cab switching or even extra motors, freespool or drum widening etc. Obviously warranty isn't an issue in these circumstances but I'd like to be able to get more parts as I go through them.

Yeah. like a shorty needs much more than a bit of telecom rope and a couple of indentured slaves to pull it out.toughnut wrote:What I'd like to know is are there going to be parts sold separately for these. Yeah there still isn't any news if spare parts are available. This is the only reason I'm not buying one right now. I wan't to hot rod the sucker.
