I've been getting a lot very useful info from the bibles on here but can't seem to find much info on suspension systems. Just wondering if there is a Suspension bible around on here somewhere. if so could someone point me in that direction. If not, I'm looking to upgrade the suspension system in my old BJ40. Does any one have any recommendations that they could give me. Any info on suspension systems for a BJ40 would be greatly appreciated.

If a 40 series Landcruiser can't get you there, it's not worth going.
one of the best mods that can be done ..is do a shackle reversal in the front
ive done this to myn and wow what a diffrence to braking, suspention, and also not having the axle push down stoping you from climbing obsticles, in the front due to the axle pushing back and down,
with brakes it makes it stop a lot better less bound sliding on slippery surfaces due to the body can now move in one direction and not fight with both axles going in oposite directions
and the best bonus of all is 95% of the shortys pig rooting suspention woos are all gone ...ie you can never forgat what a shorty is like over railway crossings ..( my spine now likes me again lol)
on top of that sudjestion re you question
to help your self and others state what u want to get out of it ..
A..tyre size now and after
B..type of driving you wish to use it for
C..towing/load inc:- adding a winch, bullbar and other accessories
D..height total lift and if going to do a body lift

A. At the moment it's running 31X10.50R15 would like to run 33x12.50R15
B. It's not my daily drive so I reckon a good 80% to 90% will be off road
C. It wont be towing a great deal. Just a tiny caravan from time to time. Will look at a bullbar later on down the track
D. I'm looking at getting a 2" lift. I'm not going to get a body lift
I'll also look into getting a shackle reversal for the front.

mr forty have a chat with bad religion au, on here, he knows alot about 40s,
to the point, when i was reserching 40s i found you if you do thng the way i would(cutting pannels and the like) you can fit upto 39 inch tyres on one with stock suspension and no body lift.
33s should fit stock, you shouldnt have to much trouble, your front gaurds have more room than my 75s do i am pretty sure, and i am running 33s on stock springs, and no body lift.
also for the best working leaf suspension, you are best off not getting off the shelf spring packs, but going to a spring re seter, talkign to them and asking them alot of questions, as they should ask you a few, i am sure people from here can point you in the right direction. i am under the impression that custom made mains, with 2 inch of lift, and a little more length and then stuff like mr grims sugestion of shackle reversals and the like are the bbest way to go. although i dont know alot about the shackle revesal.
