I am going to install an A-Pillar gauge pod skin some time in the near future.
I have a TD42T, already installed is a digital pyro and just the standard dash gauges....
Just wondering what sort of instruments people are running??

Not a big fan of gauges - so:
Oil pressure LIGHT
Charge LIGHT
I have a tacho, but as my motor is rev limited It doesn't really mean much - It's even still pulling or it's on the limiter.
I think gauges are overrated for a car that's properly engineered. Warning lights that come on at safe thresholds are far more practical.
On overfuelled diesels, or cars with marginal cooling systems I can understand the value of accurate temp and a pyro. Ideally, though, a car shouldn't ever run into a range where you might have to make a decision about how you are driving based on a gauge reading.
I've had an idea to set up a coolant PRESSURE gauge. I think this might be far more useful than temp- It's possibly a better indication of how hard you are working the car.

Oil pressure, with this gone so is the engine.
Water temp, usally got a bit of a chance with this one, well more than the oil at least.
Volts rb 30 got the alternator on the bottom of the engine so dies easy.

Anything is possible, it just comes down to time and money.

You forget about the pressure relief valve? (the radiator cap)

Gwagonsteve, this is probably the first time I've ever read something of yours I disagree with. Yes when your concentrating on driving its hard to keep an eye on the gauges. But a well sorted cooling system can still split a hose or get a stick through a radiator and over heat before you notice it leaking but having a gauge you have some chance to your temp rising BEFORE the light comes on and possibly with enough time to stop early enough to prevent more damage. As with an oil pressure gauge and as with a pyro/EGT.
