standard vaccum lockers gq
standard vaccum lockers gq
hey everyone just got myself a gq, i basically know nothing about nissans as i have always driven a hilux or 4 runner so excuse me if this is a silly question.
question - it has the factory fitted vaccum locker but when it is engaged it only works sometimes for a little while, is it suposed to stay on and lock if it is engaged or is it supposed to come on and off even when engaged/turned on?
or is it likely it has a vacum leak etc??
thanks for any help

Yes it's supposed to stay locked when it's on. You might have a vacuum leak or the solenoid pack is buggered (common problem with these after a few years) The solenoid pack is on the passenger side firewall just under the cowl panel. I sell aftermarket new ones (Mac Valves) with extra seals, new brass air line fittings and an s/s bracket too all ready to bolt straight in and they wire straight up to the factory wiring. They are the answer to replacing the factory solenoids and lock the diff quicker too.
Check all the vac lines from the front to the diff first and make sure there's no leaks, even though the hoses might look ok on the outside. I still recommend to everyone to replace them anyway as they are getting long in the tooth now.
Cheers
