Post by BIG GQ »

I noticed this in the latset Trading Post. Rang the bloke: It's a 86 model chassis with 94 model panels.
The add reads as follows:
Suzuki Sierra, LWB, 38in Boggers, 1.3EFI intercooled supercharged, auto, 5.3 Hilux locked diffs(they are welded), power steering, rollcage, very big suzuki. $5000.00 Gleneagle (07) 55432 409 or (0413) 577 150
Cheers

IT WON'T !!

There is no way to get those mods legal in QLD. It will never hold registration ever again. And if you are wondering what it would take to revert it back to a registerable condition, don't bother, cos it would be easier to buy a zook with rego.

Buy it for what it is.

BTW. You won't get into cruiser park with it cos it don't have rego

What mods listed are a problem? Only ones i see are the 38" Boggers?

I know the Zook and i also know its condition but i dont understand why you say its mods can not be approved in QLD?

Hilux diffs aren't legal
Is the engine work/ supercharger QT Approved? Does it have a plate?
38 boggers ofcoarse
How much lift has it got? Doubt QT would like the amount it has.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say its a bad 4by, just need to be realistic about the extent of the mods done to this zook. Just remember that we have to comply ( I use the words "have to: very losely  ) with some of the toughest mod laws in the country.

Hilux diffs are totaly legal in QLD. I know this for fact not from some guy just saying he said she said!

The engine/Supercharger can be mod plated.

Yes the lift would be excesive.

And i do agrea that it needs a lot of work but saying it cant be registered and never will be able to is taking it a little too far.

I appologise if I am wrong, But I was speaking to the man in charge of The QT inspectors, and he said the only way to get hilux diffs approved is to have them shortened back to the factory length.

I know there are people around who put plates on cars that breach qt rules, but if you get inspected for whatever reason, even tho you have a mod plate, you can still be defected. its at the discresion of the inspector.

I know of 1 and there has to be more Zooks that have been mod plated for a Hilux SOA swap in the past 12 months that would pass any DOT inspection on this mod. There are other guys on this site that have also spoken to the same aproving officer who is also a DOT adviser and could conferm that this mod is now legal in QLD.

I have had exactly the same advice from Queensland Transport. In fact in their words, the only way to get a SPOA mod approved in QLD. Note that I said "approved in QLD" they will honour approved vehicles from other states transferring rego as well.
If it's already been thought of...
There has to be a better way...

Anyone got some pics of this car? Sounds like it's pretty big.

May be worth more in parts than as a car though - esp if it is not registerable.
