Sounds like it needs a good tune and going over.

Could also check the vacuum hose that goes to the AC diaphragm rev compensator.
My imported GQ trucks have em but dunno bout the aussie patrols.

Basically the AC switch allows vacuum on the diaphragm that pulls the throttle open a bit to give more RPM and stop the motor stalling.

my 2 cents........

checked thimble filter was clean as a whistle sort of hoping that was the cause, would of been an easy fix. Where abouts is this vaccuum hose for the AC garth??

gudday

comes of vac pump via AC switch solenoid then onto diaphragm bolted onto the bottom on injection pump.
There is a little "L" shape hook on the other side of diaphragm which when activated pulls back the throttle adjusting for the extra load caused by the AC clutch/pump.

good luck

Has a 4.2L turbo diesel intercooled.
Checked for the diaphragm and its not there checked against a mates pootrol and its being taken off.
also not sure if its a type of charcoal cannister or something on the passengers side guard also is missing.
Leaving toward upping the fuel a little, should help with air con off.
Guess ill just have to look around to see if i can get hold of one so i can take off with air con

if its the black canister your speaking off its not a filter, its the receiver tank for the vacuum!!! you need it too keep some type of reserve vac for the boosters for brake and clutch.

someone's been fiddling around with it me thinks!.....

good luck

ha ha yeah.............you can make your own one up as i did when remote mounting it, but you will need the 2 x non-return valves in the circuit.
It'll make a big difference when clutching all the time at low revs ie crawling etc

on another subject, where do you get the 4.6 ratio gears when running 35" tread? how expensive are they?

cheers

Just had a proper look with some light lol appears that it has be routed into the passengers front guard, will be taking the inner guard off to inspect this weekend and see what i can make of it.
Got the 4.6 ratio diff gears from brunswick diesel in perth cheapest genuine ones i could find - $550 a set, second hand and they do the v8 diesel conversions so almost new gears too.
Ended up paying $1200 which was GST and postage to brisbane
