Help please I gots a noise

Post by opindown »

OK! I lent the pajero to my wife to go to work in today and out of the bluse on her way home there was a noise that developed under the car. The old man and i took it for a drive and come to a mutual decision that it was coming from the transfer case area. it is a farkin horrid noise. howl cross with a grindey noise.

There hasnt been any indications that something would go wrong. it is just one of those freak things.

Thanks in advance

ok after a closer listen it sounds like it is coming from either the rear of the gear box or the transfer case. it sounds like it is in time with the rear drive shaft. it is a metal on metal noise which makes me think it might be a bearing. just dont know which one. any help would be good.
