just a quick one tried a search couldn't find what i was looking for

04 GU injector pumpis it electronic or mech a work mate has one that doesn't go to well its stock as but miles away for me to have a look at
he has the money to do it up . i've sent him in the right direction with bolt on's

just woundering if its like mine (GQ) where he can wind the fuel up to suit the boost or does it need proformance chip / remaping

It is a mechanical pump (which does all the fueling), with the addition of an ecu controlled solenoid. The solenoid has the ability to adjust actual injection timing.

the factory base injection timing is very retarded. first thing i would be doing is advancing the base timing up to 0.7 or there abouts for a stock motor.

yes you can wind the fuel up - does it have an egt gauge?

what 'bolt ons' have you suggested?

Some other things to think about are to give the intercooler an internal clean - its possibly clogged with gunk from egr mixing with crank case gases.
Also the factory air filter lid is very restrictive - some have fitted a lid from a ZD30.
How km's have the injectors done?

How is the injector timing changed ?

the base injection timing is changed by leaning the injector pump towards or away from the motor

A diesel timing tool & dial gauge would be recommended for the job, if your going to have a look at it.

gudday SW1

i have a 12mm head/rotor modified pump in a 92GQ which we set up with the DTI etc etc to our lift and advance specs.
The engine was out of a 96GQ and had an extra "advance" solenoid above the fuel shut off/on solenoid on the pump.
Since the 92 did not have this i inquired to how it worked and what it did, the diesel specialist said it was for the advance only when using the Air Con???????

It didn't sound right to me but he insisted that the advance for engine management was all done mechanically on the Zexel pumps.

So the short of it is the solenoid was left unconnected as advised and the truck goes well BUT.......

Do you (or anyone else) know how it works and how to hook it up to gain performance??

from your description I believe you are talking about the fast idle circuit - which is for when the ac is on.
Ive never really taken much notice of it, but i will have a guess and say it uses vaccum to the pump to add a small amount of extra fuel when the ac compressor is operating.

I dont really think it is a valid performance gain to have it 'enabled' all the time.

Info on the second solenoid valve just above the shut off solenoid, not to be confused with the aneroid on the top of the pump.

Does it have a green plastic cover over the wire connector, is it fitted to the overflow fitting? If so, it is a device used to alter internal pump pressure on cold starts. By raising or lower pressure it alters the injection advance. Normally called a cold start device. It should be left unpowered and will stay at the normal settings.

the intercooler thing i would never have thought of and it would probly
be a big help as its mainly dropped in performance when the ambiant temp is up still runs well at night ..
as far as bolt ons we were just going to start with the usual 3'' exhuast k&n filter, egt gage, and boost up n tune i didn't even think of the air box lid even though i've done it on mine.

anything else u would add?
he's not looking for mass power just has a large boat (7m)
and its got a service tray on the back that is rather heavy
