hilux drive shaft center dealy...
OK. Just blew the arse out of my center bearing on my YM67 project car. Car has 2" load carying leafs (handles like a gokart with no load), I installed a new one when I got rego and since then have ran in down the hwy for 3000k ( bris to melb x2) and a few short road trips @ total 1000kish ( driving it like i stole it ). Have I missed somthing when i installed it or is the hwy Ks just asking to much for a lifted truck??? or other?

when you replace the center bearing space it down about 10/15 mm improves the angle and stops it chewing out. even a 2" lift on a hilux needs this
Keep it shiny side up!
Now doing general fab work and painting
trays, trailers, engine swaps on request, some tube work, silo section sliders, rust repairs, ute chops etc

Just down or on a angle? Do have all the kit or do the standed RUF and IFS rear leaf and diff conversion that will bet going on it soon, just worried it already chewed out...when you replace the center bearing space it down about 10/15 mm improves the angle and stops it chewing out. even a 2" lift on a hilux needs this

I just had the two piece shaft made into a single shaft using the old unis and slip yoke. Cost me $250 bucks. Smooth as now...no more bearing to flog out...and cheaper than a genuine replacement bearing. But the vehicle is a tourer not a comp rig, so this option may not suit you for whatever reason.
as said go a one piece if your doing more mods.
you only need to space it down if you are keeping the two peice it improves the angle of the bearing

Re: hilux drive shaft center dealy...
You dont need to go a single shaft to make it last, I hate single shafts with a passion due to the lost clearance on ramp over angle..
Just put a double cardon shaft in, I been running mine for easy 2 years with lockers, 35's minimum everyday and upto beadlocked 37' s at times etc etc and do some bloody HARD wheeling then turn around and commute 225kms daily for work (on 35's) and i've only ever ruined centre bearings when i've smashed them with a direct hit on rocks/ledges, NEVER have I 'worn' one out from the angle

Re: hilux drive shaft center dealy...
A single tail shaft gives the drive a much more direct feel to it, less vibs, less moving parts to fail.
The clearance differances between a split shaft and a single shaft is next to none.
In my Hilux I have run a single rear shaft for over 10 years now.
Never wasted a rear shaft.
Have walked the rear of my lux sideways on the shaft many times.
Just be sure to use a extra heavy duty walled shaft.
