RWC ??

Guys any idea if the sill tanks are supposed to result in a mod plate being fitted to the vehicle? Have these on mine and it's going in for RWC tomorrow, all the plumbing and wiring is neat and tidy leak free, so looks ok. Also the aircon doesn't work, shouldn't be a problem for the RWC? from what I "interprete" the guide lines to say, plus perfect opertunity for on board air.

Sill tanks - no plate - as they aren't an Alternative fuel.

As long as it doesn't leak - your in luck. Good luck on the roadie too!

Yeah, I would tend to agree that you don't need a plate for them.

I would suggest ensure that the pipes and clamps are all good and it all works. My dual sill tanks on my Rangie don't work, and I think I will just take them off and fix 'em off it when I go for RWC, rather than trying to get it working prior to then ...

Same with the A/C; its not vital to the cars overall safety, so if it works or not is a moot point I would suggest.

Cool guy's have been over the RWC standards info sheet a few times and needed that secon opinion Thank's 80, hopefully I'll be on road and wheeling again soon, been too long between drinks

Good stuff. Mines going to go through in the next few weeks after I fix up the interior and do a few other things (no use having it road rego'd but having the interior stripped!).

I have to fix my air con too, so be interested in any results you get!

Air con not working won't affect a RWC, no way

Unless it's leaking oil or pumping funny smoke into the car, if it's a rangie chances are it was owned by a stoner

Wish I was sometime would be easier than wearing the green skin every day.

Items of concern

Rear diff pinion loose
left hand brakes not working
Oil leak near hand brake drum
Front radius arm bushes
gear box noisy (it's a lt95 they're always noisy)
Rear diff noisy
Needs flares, tyres too wide.
right hand front bearing loose, dont know if it needs tightening or replaceing
panhard rod bush on front.
Everything else is minor, fix horn replace a globe or 2 (one I removed it was blown) Radiator hoses.

Any tips apreciated especially how to make diff and gearbox quite???

I have an extra fuel tank in my Patrol that was put in back in 89, 3 months after the compliance plate and it has a QLD mod plate. So I'd check into it properly.

Thought of that one allready, was thinking about a thicker grade oil maybe, or lighter
As for the aircon, it wasn't an issue or the tyre I was worried about or windscreen

with the list they have given you, i would fix all, then go over the car with someone else, and anything, you may think will be okay, check and fix evrything, whos not to say they wont nail ya for something else the missed last time. Ive seen it happen!

ANy ideas on a "loose" rear diff pinion, the nut is tight, not sure what I can do to fix it, maybe replace bearings??

With re-setting the preload, if I go for that (I can't see any play in the pinion, but the propshaft bolts where a little loose when I pulled it off) any idea of a ratio or formula to determine the shim size increase or decrease.
