Thanks for your help with the sacrificing - I'll look into it.
Bj thanks for that comment - thats what I want ha ha!
2.2t v8 will drive arount 3t+ 3.0l cars with the same tyre size
still trying to screw the dealers.
Its annoying that its worths about 30k max, so you need to get the price down low as possible. Funny how well toyota markets stuff as you pay more money for less car! and still feel awesome!

ive yet to be able to get a quick quote of under $62K just walking into dealerships, but annoyingly i rang my mate who works for fleet SA and asked him if he knew what they pay for the 70 series cruisers for the gov.
Workmate VDJ79- Toyota RRP$ 57K ish
Fleet SA: $36,000ish.....
Wonder if i can get those kind of discounts?

2005 HDJ100 Manual, ARB bar, XD9000 winch, ARB rooftop tent + awning, Drawers, Engel, 2" OME lift, 285/75R16 KM2's, iCom, HID XGT's.
Thats crazy!
Best I can get for gxl a/c graphite paint, diff locks is $66500.
I have had several big dealers walk away at this price.
No one will do 64, sign straight away.
i'll keep letting it sit

If it is for government, it might not include GST and other taxes/duties, so might not be a direct comparison.ferrit wrote:i rang my mate who works for fleet SA and asked him if he knew what they pay for the 70 series cruisers for the gov.

bru, i have toyota finance/ lease, i got my workmate ute with bullbar, towbar, aircon and tray for 58,000 drive away with 12 months rego and one tank full of diesel. talk to northlakes toyota if you havent allready, they are complete idiots and undercut each other.
i have now spent alot on my ute and the three best mods are chip (goes alot harder than without) exhaust (i cum everytime i accelerate) and fox shox (it now rides acceptably) i need to talk to someone about it but ill be looking at doing a coil conversion next year.
awsome cars, just wish i had diff locks

I have just rolled over 100K in my 79 series GXL ute, i give it curry almost everywhere cos i hate slow retarded drivers and i always have heaps of shit to do so no time for dragging my arse.chunderlicious wrote:the washing thing, i give it hell all the time and havent lost any oil in 30,000 kays, also still get 15L per 100kms the way i drive80's_delirious wrote:so you either drive veeeeeery slowly, or someone hates doin your washingchunderlicious wrote:i cum everytime i accelerate) and fox shox (it now rides acceptably
In that time i have had no issues what so ever, i'm running 285/75/16 MTZ'z, and i tow a 2.5t tool trailer with it every day, and the V8 just keeps coming back for more.
The specs on mine are as follows:
(1)ARB delux bar and 9.5 xp winch
(2)ARB scrub rails
(3)285/75/16 MTZ's
(4)K& N air filter (breaths heaps better) Cheaper to clean than replace OEM
(5)Safari air ram rather than stupid looking OEM snorkel top (again breaths heaps better and doesn't make that stupid noise at 2500 rpm that sounds like a cheap $2 hooker trying to suck a golf ball through a garden hose.
(6) Factory difflocks (shit all over ARB, and they work perfectly and instantly every time, not to mention neat and tidy, i have had both and the factory ones kick arse)
(7) Toyota tray modiifed to my needs
(7) Infra red reverse camera hooked up to sat nav, dvd, mp3, cd, radio double din head unit
(8) Outback consoles centre roof console
(9) Now i'm out of warranty the next thing is chip and exhaust (bring it on)

Get a beauy exhaust, they are so neat and without a muffler.... i can set off car alarms in under cover parking, i turn every young guys head when i drive past and if i get pulled over by the cops (for unrelated issues) they barely notice it is louder than standardEvil 73 wrote:I have just rolled over 100K in my 79 series GXL ute, i give it curry almost everywhere cos i hate slow retarded drivers and i always have heaps of shit to do so no time for dragging my arse.chunderlicious wrote:the washing thing, i give it hell all the time and havent lost any oil in 30,000 kays, also still get 15L per 100kms the way i drive80's_delirious wrote:so you either drive veeeeeery slowly, or someone hates doin your washingchunderlicious wrote:i cum everytime i accelerate) and fox shox (it now rides acceptably

Hi guys
November last year i brought a new spec airbag 76 wagon gxl with front and rear diff locks i use it to tow my comp truck its graphite in colour so far i have put on a 3inch straight through exhaust(sounds very tough) with a exhaust temp gauge, long ranger 166 ltr fuel tank, a 3inch lift with big bore tough dog adjustable shocks and ride pro air bag bellows,3500 tow bar with electric trailer brakes, 285 bighorns,ARB (colour coded with the silver flares) delux winch bar, 100w spot lights, and tint.
I still want to do roof top tent with awning, draws, fridge, winch,dp chip, uhf, and colour coded arb side steps with brush bars.
Its a very cool truck and im very happy with it so far i have done 3000ks in it and cant fault anything.
Thanks Rick

Adelaide Hills toyota- And they sold it and were doing a dealer fit of aircon and a bullbar to it yesterday, but still took me for a quick blat around the block in it.
They do ride nice....
And im shocked you cant get bellow 66K for one- I got quoted $66K with the lockers aircon and silver metallic yesterday without any kind of haggling or discounting on price at all- thats just the RRP! Sales rep said that theres at least a few grand to knock off that without getting into fleet discounts or anything- If you can somehow qualify for Gold fleet discount, its close to 10K off the purchase price!

You could always buy this one with a few odds and ends already fitted

flog the ring out of it
I looked into it also last year. I'm pretty sure it worked out ok if you travelled at least 25000k's per year. I guess if your driving everyday for work that would be easy, but in my case it didn't as i only see my truck for a few days every fortnight.bushwalker wrote:anyone have experience with lease cars a good way to go or not??
But definately do your research beforehand mate. The various Leaseing websites have calculators on them so you can estimate what it will all cost.

highest temp i got was fifth gear, long hill and i kept it at 110 with a car on a car trailer and hit 528 degreesC. cruising around town doing short highway bursts under 300 most of the time. long highway stretches at 110kmh up gradual hills (between warwick and tenterfield) on the throttle constantly (holding it on to keep at that speed) no trailer i was sitting on 430 degreesC but it went down to 230 as soon as i let off the throttle and drove at 100kmh.rowenb wrote:Anyone got exaust temps for their V8s doin hills and towing etc? I think this is bullshit but someone was tryin to tell me that putting a 3 inch exaust on shortens the life in these motors, any theories?
ive done 34,000 now, 30,000 has been with the exhaust and 28,000 has been with the DP chip and the only thing that is causing any sort of trouble is the shudder clutch when the car is first started in the morning. that is all. but i think i have a freak car, my brakes are AWSOME, my exhaust seems to sound better than alot of cruisers ive heard, i flog the shit out of it and havent had any issues except the cold start clutch, engine runs perfect and sounds perfect, i get good economy, it tows effortlessly up to 3.5 tonnes, i towed an unbraked trailer with what i found out was a tonne in it barely feeling it was there, even braking.
I think some people just got duds or dont look after their cars, that simple.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
ok i finally recived my truck a couple of weeks ago , and i just love it, the truck drives really good on the road not being a harsh ride, the power those v8 diesels make is unreal, its just easy to drive put it in 5th gear and thats it you dont change from that, as for all the people that tell me the earlier 79s are a better truck, you are all full of shit and havent driven a v8 cruiser,
the only things that i can see to be a issue is the rear springs being a cab chassie, and the seats seems really soft and will fail with time, as for every thing else its just a great truck
