Go the best you can buy. I use Platinum, mainly because my car runs on gas and it has backfired a few times. Further, I dropped the plug gap down from the recommended 1.0 to 1.1 mm to 0.9 mm. This was based on the NGK recommendation, and also the fact that as the plugs get older, the gap does increase -they had opened up to about 1.6 mm on the last set when it backfired. At least if I start with a smaller gap, it will opefully go a lot longer before it backfires again. I think that the performance is slightly down on what it should be - maybe because the gap is a bit small?
Also, the plugs are not exactly easy to get out, so do it once and do it well.

I have run Nipondenso (VK16 from memory-don't trust that though!) in mine around Aust in the old Pajero motor, replaced them and the last 3000 on the Magna motor running almost always on gas, pulling hard and have no problems at all with them. I could have swapped them from the old motor but for around $100 and knowing how much of a pain it would be to change them later decided to do them while the engine was out.
Platinum, iradium or yttrium, these days you will only get good brands and all good plugs.

I also got my plugs from USA - similar price and 1 week delivery. It is too late now, but you should try to get a set of plugs 1 grade colder than the recommended if you are runing on gas. From memory, this meant a higher number eg PFR6J instead of PFR5J or whatever. Do the research yourself. I approached NGK and Champion in Aust and Champion faxed me a list of recommended plugs for all vehicles running on gas. NGK didn't have any platinum plugs colder than the ones recommended for the petrol 3.5L engine, so I had to use them - hence I set them to 0.9 mm gap to allow for the gap to open up during service. Hopefully I will not see them again for 100000km (they have done 10000 km now and so far no problems)
Looks like the NGK's will go in the magna .. Father in law just arrived with water pump, timing belt and platinum plugs .. (has an auto parts business)
