After much umm'ing and arr'ing, ive made up my mind on what im gonna do with the 3F petrol/gas.
Its done a head gasket a week ago and only went in yesterday to get fixed, so when it comes back i will start work on installing a SC14 supercharger.
I'm happy with what this particular blower will offer for the 3F, they normally operate at around 6-7psi but can be made to go up to 11 or 12. And its a Toyota item, they are used on the trueno (spelling) buzz boxes and mr2's, although many a v6 commodore has happily accepted one and have worked well.
My only question, generally, when supercharging what else should be upgraded/changed. i want some background info when going to the pros to have it fine tuned.
I dont mind if it hasnt been done before, consider me as a guinney pig

You need to do some math, it'll probably work as the 3F isn't much of a revver, bearing in mind that blower is designed to make 7 psi on a 2.4 liter engine, it will need to spin nearly twice as fast to produce 7 psi on a 4.0 L engine. I think you will find they disconnect at high revs on the origional vehicle, I'm not sure at what revs though. An engine is an air pump, you want boost you have to fit a bigger pump to fill it up. As the 3F is only good for 4000 rpm or so you may get away with it. But don't expect too much as spinning these little blowers at high rpm creates a lot of intake air temperature.

they come off the 1ggze which is only a 2 lt, but the rev hard like 7000rpm, i think they turn them off at idle too not high revs
it should be ok, CRS do a kit for 3.8 commy, it just going to be a hassle getting the pullys right to make it work well, the pully on it looks very small so might work out ok

you wouldnt hear the belt whine over the noise of the pump. there a shit idea.

Yep, Ive been down the supercharger track. Find out what blades it has (teflon coated etc) and find out what the max rpm they can handle is. That will tell you right there if its big enough for your engine and what expected gain. Then look at your max rpm (rev limiter) and set it upto that (pulley size) and not your red line because I garantee 1 of your mates will want a drive and not be ready for how quick it will rev and hit the limiter. What ever boost you end up with is it then. Only other option change the supercharger.

That the problems you face though. Trust me they get hot (but not menlt down turbo hot) either way they heat the intake charged air with out an intercooler.
When I did mine there where 2 superchargers. The 1ggze engine and another 1. 1 was way smaller than the other. But the picture youve got the smaller 1 as mine looked different to that. You might need to go to the bigger 1. Hopefully you can find the room to fit it.

Mate, I think this is a great idea, I'm sure it can be pulled off. I have no idea what the gains would be or whether it would work well but I wish you luck.

I had the same charger on an rb30 (3L v6) made 7 psi and would have revved more than the 3f.
Should be ok, but an mentioned worth cooling it.
I personally found the whine fun - for the short time i drove it. it certainly didnt sound stock but wasnt that loud.

if its going to blow thru the carby you can out the whole carby in a box
so the pressure fills the box as well, therefore the same pressure in and out of the carb, so sealing is not an issue then
will need to run some sort of low pressure rising rate fuel reg, other wise the pressure will push the fuel back up the line= fail
ive seen these run fuel thru them before, not sure how long it lasted tho, cant run a cooler that way tho, other wise you have issue with back fires and potential bombs under bonet

The 3F did come fuel injected, but not here in Aust, in the US. Maybe worth seeing if you can get a set up from the states, Matt McInnes who is a member on here bought a whole engine from the states and had it shipped over for 300$?

The engine was out of an 80 series here, 1990-92, 80 series auto's are all 3FE. Manual they are all 3F here. In the USA the 62 series got the 3FE here we did not as it was not required for emissions. The 2F or 2FE is a better engine to supper charge and you get an extra 300cc to boot over the 3F.
