Ok, I'm using some of that clear PVC plastic that get used on the outdoor areas for cafes/pubs etc for a temporary fix for my rear window. Want to glue some velcro to it so I can roll it up when on the tracks but leave it down when in general use.
So basically need a bloody good flexible glue that will stick the velcro to the plastic and not let go. Remember this is only a temporary fix and will be done properly by and upholsterer when I get everything sorted later on.
And before anyone suggests the velcro with sticky backing, don't bother... on those hot days it melts and makes a nice gooey mess where it runs down the window!!
How long is temporary? 1 week or 1 year?
Contact adhesive is what you need, apply to both surfaces and let it get tacky then stick, but it wont weather well and exposure and glue quality will dictate how long it holds.
If its the long type of temporary then urethane will work but very messy.
weld it with a heat gun i have the actual machine to do it but it is basicly a heat gun.
Keep it shiny side up!
Now doing general fab work and painting
trays, trailers, engine swaps on request, some tube work, silo section sliders, rust repairs, ute chops etc
Looking for it to last prob around 6-12mths at the moment, but hopefully less depending when I can get around to doing it properly with an upholsterer.
I have some sikaflex left over I could use, I know it's good and flexible and stickes well, but would it stick well to the pvc?? May have to rough up the surface where the velcro needs to go so it takes to it.

If the velcro is nylon it can be glued easily but if its PE you will only get a mechanical bond.

Tried Sika and no good, appears to bond at first sight but once an edge comes away, pretty much just peels back off the PVC. Hoping it'll last for a few weeks atleast, but not holding my breath. I even tried a peice and roughed it up using a flap disc on the grinder to get a good bond but didnt work either.
rivit it on .. Will be done in 15 mins and so long as your part way carefull will last well.
