GQ RUSTY FUEL TANKS

Post by fatassgq »

OK just replaced racor filter in the patrol and had rusty material in it. Obvious problem would be that the tank is rusty inside right?

Can you clean these things out or would it be a full replacement???

Either way I am not looking forward to it.
Prolly let the filter do its job for a while yet! This wont be too much of a problem will it

How much would a tank cost?
Maybe a good excuse to get a long range one but they hang down a long way! not to mention cost

If you have a body lift you can bodylift the tank as well so it sits about stock tank height.

Also if it is a ute you can get them lifted as high as the tray will allow.

their is something that can clean fuel tanks of rust scale, unsure of flakes though. unfortunately for the life of me I can't remember what it was called. basically you mix the solution (acid like) with water, let it sit for a while in the tank and then flush out.

Is it the original or LR tank? It is possible, after draining out fuel, to give the inside if the tank a light sand as the sender hole is fairly large. You wont be able to get behind the baffles if any and the tank will need a good flush out after. \
