What problems am i likely to come across with a 4.2 lts petrol in a ford maverick please help?

Mine is great off road, runs pretty hot on hills, plenty of power, a little bit down on torque, especially compared to my diesel patrol. Make up for that with traction aids like lockers and they are great trucks off road.
Just make sure that you don't plan to do any longer distance touring or you have plenty of cash for fuel. In the end I've ended up with a diesel patrol for getting around and touring, and the petrol one is ok for fun but the engine is coming out soon as I can afford to swap to a V8 for a fun truck.

Have one. love it, as everybody else has said they do like a drink but when you think about it, you can buy an early 90's model (that's when they finished anyway) for anything from $3000 to $6500ish when you compare a 4.2d about the same age approx $2000 to $5000 more then that adds up to be a shitload of fuel you are going to have to use to make the diesel seem as cheap, and with the money you save you can spend on good stuff like lifts and lockers and rock crawler gears etc.
yea love mine they tend to crack heads more so when on gas then petrol for some reason. Mines auto and love the auto, great on rocks. As said little thirsty 20ltr petrol per 100km or 30ltr gas. Im currently organising to do a turbo engine hoping that should provide all the power i need and maybe a little better open road enconmy. if your going to run 35s id be looking for some 4.6s as mine had 3.9s on 35s and was a bit slow nd labouring up hills.

i had a 89 swb maverick and all i can complain about was the fuel usage. i would be lucky to get 350klm out of the tank on 33's but it did have some balls if i kept it i would have ripped the motor out and put a injected v8 in it.
99 gu coil cab st, 3 inch zorst, twin subaru turbos on split manifolds 13psi, GTIR intercooler, 4 inch stainless steel snorkel. xgts,35's and 5inch lift and a winch.
