snorkel on a 350 chev on gas
hello i am looking for a snorkel kit or snorkel designs for my 350 chev on gas .
This is a design a mate and I came up with as i couldn't find any pics of one. This is assuming you have a carbied 350 chev, this is on a 308, but the principle is the same. You may need a bigger airbox to suit the larger capacity, im not sure.
4'' snorkel
had a sheet metal place roll up a ring to sit over the gas diaphram, also had them cut a disc to the same diameter. I welded them together then put a 3 inch pipe off the side. The airbox is off a V6 VS commodore, but I believe the they are the same as the V8 airbox.
I had to modify the box intakes to suit the pipes.
I used a silicone reducer from 4'' to 3". As struth mentioned 3'' intake may reducer performance, I didn't notice any change in performance at all when running just the airbox with out the snorkel hooked up at all, however it did change the when I hooked up the 90 degree bends to connect the snorkel to the airbox. It has a bad flat spot when under very heavy acceleration, I tried fitting the a high flow filter but it has done little. I am hoping it has just messed with the air/fuel mix and can be tuned to rectifiy the problem.
