Fuel smell inside

There's a strong smell of fuel inside the cabin of my Feroza while driving. I remember reading somewhere about it being a common problem- has anyone got any ideas?

I found the one way valve that was mentioned- it all looked OK, but I thought I'd run some Araldite around the seam where it was joined, just to be sure.

Seems to have cured the problem. No more getting high on petrol fumes ( just lucky I'm not a smoker :shock:

)

Hmmmm. About two days after supposedly fixing the smell it returned.
I thought maybe the Araldite had given way due to contact with fuel, but that's all OK. :mad:

So I decided to check out the small black plastic tank that the one way valve feeds into. It looked OK- but when I submersed it in water with two of the three inlet/outlets blocked off and applied air pressure to the other, the problem was revealed.

There is a small crack in the one of the walls. Hopefully Araldite with some fibreglass matting thrown in will solve the problem.

Does anyone know what function this tank performs? It appears to just be a reservoir of some sort- all three inlets/outlets are all feeding into the tank with no valves or anything internally.

Remove the rear trim on the RHS (ie. driver's side trim that the rear speaker is mounted into.) Behind there you will find all sorts of tubing, a valve and a small black plastic tank that's mounted onto a bracket.

Supposedly the one way valve can crack, but in my case the black plastic tank had a hairline crack that couldn't be seen. My repair has lasted for over four years- so araldite and some fiberglass matting works well.
