Just looking for a new main/starting/winching battery for the jeep.
After going through a few Optimas over the years I am looking to see if anyone recommends anything different?
Otherwise I will probably just go for another red top 34/78 I guess...
Anyone done this research recently or have another model to recommend?
One factor to take into account is if the battery can be sourced locally as I don't feel like getting something this heavy shipped.
Would be great if you can walk into Kmart auto, Autobarn, Piranha, ARB, BCF, etc. and pick one up
Some interesting things about CAT batteries on here a while ago. Dogalouge online at CAT's website. 4 year warranty same as optima. I've got an 880cca red top optima because of the warranty, 2 years on it's great.
I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.
I bought a couple of CAT batteries a few months ago (for earthmover), they are sealed 1000CCA jobs, $190 ea, have 3 yr warranty but only 1 yr replacement warranty, the other 2 yrs are partial refund. These were smallish ones (about size of battery in Patrol), there were plenty of bigger ones on the crate if you need more power.
I run a couple of Optimas in the heap, and after 12 months one is starting to loose charge..
We have a couple of old Odessys at work, they are at least 5 years old, rarely get charged (not fitted in vehicle, used as jump start pack) and hold charge as good as new..
Also heard a runour that Optima are now made in China and are not as good as they once were. I guess if you read all the bad stories on the JK forums, that makes sense (Optima fitted standard)???
Thanks for all of the replies...seems like Odyssey might be the way to go.
Just need to find someone that sells them that isn't miles away and actually has them in stock!!
Would actually be good to find somewhere near the city or down in Geelong as thats where I am this weekend.
Has anyone heard of Bond batteries?
Or are they just a rebadge of something generic?
