best place to install ARB compressor ??
Hi all,
I recently purchased an ARB air compressor from Mannel Motors.
I 've got a 80 Series landcruiser and i was wonder where would the best place to install it.
so far i am thinking under the passenger side seat ?? any others who own one with an 80 can share there experience ?

but which airlocker is better, the ARB or the TJM? And why?
The ARB seems to be the industry standard, but is the TJM just a modified copy or does it offer any real improvements?
Sorry to ask, but this sort of information is in real short supply where I live.

Mine is mounted in behind the passenger side head light, on a special bracket ARB had made for the 78 Series, I also got them to extend the intake as it is mounted front down, they placed the intake behind the motor, I moved it to inside the Air intake box on the Air on side of the filter - if water gets in there I am in more problem then water in my compressor!
Also it's now much quieter - seems much of the noise comes from the compressor intake!

I have absolutely no room for it.
I run duel batteries and snorkel and turbo.
This would be why some ppl have to run it inside the car.
I have a shorty GQ with full length draws so dont need to worry about rear passengers so i placed mine in the middle of the car behind the centre console out of harms way.
I have an amplifier under each seat and an engine bay thats chockers...
Put it where ever it works easiest for you mate....

Know a guy who's got one and it overheats when trying to pump tyres up and cuts out.crankycruiser wrote:beware if mounting inside the car, these things get VERY hot, so make sure nothing can sit on it, I mounted a fan next to mine to help cool it down, seems to help a bit

As for the comment about it over heating, if it's the current ARB model I would take it back to ARB as they certainly do not normally overheat, they get hot but so do all compressors.
My Troopy tyres usually sit at around 50 - 60psi when on road, I still take them down to 25 or 15psi when in sand - the compressor has no problem taking them back up to 60psi and in about half the time my mates old ARB compressor takes his to 40psi.
