80 series diff housing up grades

Post by gatto45 »

Hi everyone
Im havin trouble wit my 92 hdj80 smashing the crownwheel teeth and smashing cvs. ive been through about 4 cvs in 2 years and on my second crown wheel and pinion set. I run a arb air lokka in the front but i ony use it wen really need to cause of the ease to break cvs.
I know i should up grade to longfields but it might be a waste of money if i keep smashing centres.
Has any one done or kow anyone that has either fitted nissan centres or retrofitted whole housings under the cruiser, or any other option that would work??
THANKS

it can be done but reqes
new gears longs nissan to toyo cvs
so you still end up with toyo cvs
cvs should not break to much what brand are you useing
then the cost of a nissan centre
then mod the diff to suit
so it costs at least 4000
plus locker ect ect hrs of work i have the same problem with front diff gears
std cvs axels have not broken for 25000km
so mabye try toyo ones
lifted and locked 80 series landcrusier
turbo 1 fzfe straight gas 35" claws and heaps more crap inside

thanks mate
yeah knew it would not be cheap
the cvs i use are not real cheap ones but they r not dear ones either.
tryed a couple of brands but still keep breaking them.
got a mate i run comps with has the same problem.
might have to spend the money and get some longfields.

Ive been told that the earlier 80s had bigger diff centers is that true ?
