does anybody know if the mount of the control box in the engine bay affect the wireless remote? also is it advicable to extend the wires from the winch to the control box?

Haven't seen one yet but I assume it's one of the new sealed solid state solenoid packs ?

If it is, there's no point in moving it into the engine bay as it's pretty much waterproof anyway.

Also by relocating it you'll have to use larger cable than what is fitted to handle the current draw over the longer distance.

wireless remote definately still works with the box in the enginebay, still from the same distance away also

Wireless remote works fine in mine mounted under the bonnet. I tested it at 150m away at it was still working. I can't see you needing to operate it at that distance though. It comes with pretty long cables so I didn't have to extend mine. It's mounted just near the radiator though so if you wanted to mount it closer to the firewall you might have to look at extending/upgrading wires.
