I was wandering if anyone had any suggestions of places to try, Or if there was another way or system that i might be able to run that would give me the luxury/necessity i need to turn my 33x13.5 Mudzillas aired down haha. cheers in advance

wreckers should have the boxes for about $400. Maybe able to use a surf pump and hoses. Should be heaps of those around. People that have done X-over or high steer should have some boxes laying around. Or you could go X-over or high steer and pick up a surf box for around $250. I would go that way. Would work out a little more $$ but better steering x 100.

gday willy,
what part of the kit is likely to be big the biggest issue and is that part an interchangeable part with a later hilux or surf?
i was hoping by being a mechanic by trade i'd able to fit up a straight kit myself, and just getting a drop drag link to over come the lift to come in the not to distant future.
i have investigated the cross over route and i have been out and chatted to the boys at superior engineering and got a quote. its just the logistics of being able to get the truck out there, get my self back home and back out there from the city aren't so simple.

cheers again mate

2.4D surf motor should be the same as yours. So the pump should bolt straight up. Just get a power steer box from a LN106 or similar. As I said, should be about $400 from wreckers.

High steer is better as everything is up higher and out of the way. You can do x-over cheap ya self if ya good with a welder. Just need another arm off another knuckle and weld it to ya passenger one. But I would buy one from Superior as They are welded properly.

But ya best off buying high steer arm as they are billet one piece steel.

Save doing things twice and go high steer.

High steer arms.
Custom tie rod and drag link.
Run 80 series ball joints.
80 series or late 2wd pitman arm.
IFS power steer box and mounting plates.
Extend steering shaft.

If anyone else can think of anything, add it.

Get the whole kit through locktup.

Only welding needed is the mounting kit on the chassis.

How much lift are you running? May be beneficial to get the flat pitman arm.

Cheaper way would be to just buy the arms off locktup and buy the other stuff separately as Willy Hilux has mentioned.

Yeh, Mick at Superior Eng. should have the arms or can get them and he does the links. Just the plates have tho be welded onto the chasi. Everything else is bolt on.

Been looking into it and the locktup kit seems to be the go for me because it has everything i need in it and the price is pretty reasonable i think too(mostly cause it saves me some leg work haha). Would it be worth the extra couple hungy to go chromo drag link and tie rod? I no hi steer sits out of the way but what about when riding sidewalls on banks and loads like that? The chromo would be more resistant to bukling surely? Might have to just buy a stubby cooler and a sticker from superior at the moment. I no they do good work and have sorted my mates out in the past lol. Maybe they can sort me next time.

Don't need to go cromo. Just get the superior boys to make up ones from heavy hollow bar. Heaps strong enough.

Sourced a complete kit off a 91 surf, box, pump, resovoir, all lines and fittings and mounting hard, spare crank pulley, belt and an intermediate shaft for the steering for $320 personally delevered to my drive way. The ball is definatly rollin. See how the pump will go for mounting and belts and pulley and what not. Then hi steer kit. Then fit it all up hopefully.
