I get that yiu think you were trying to show off to the crowd, but TT isn't a show pony event, it is about capable vehicles and capable drivers tackling obstacles. look i not going to lie there was times that i thought pater was going to tell us to tone it down and i was waiting for it all weekend

just so we can straighten things out of what happened on the travel ramp..the driver had ask for anyone in front of it to be moved and made a where of what was going on but looking at it no one told.

Maybe i've been missunderstood.
I completely understand the reasoning behind the strap work BUT.. firstly, and if you watched you may have noticed, The BETTER built cars didn't require a strap.. because they WORKED!...
Secondly and foremost. TWICE i seen navis spring for there life as a car lurched towards them. The strap idea is DANGEROUS.. no if's no but's.. it's DANGEROUS. Someone will get hurt oneday, and if you, Mr co competition manager, can't see that then i question your position.
The event as an overall i rated very high. Excellent organisation. Well staffed, great layout. a few safety issues i noticed.. Navi's too close to cars, with or with out a strap. and some of the spectator points.

Flame suit zipped up tight.

No flame suit needed, i appreciate your opinion, especially as it's a safety issue. We allow a strap to be used, but competitors are not allowed to put a hand/arm through the hole in the strap. A definate no no. We made that decision on the basis of safety so they couldn't be dragged along, as has happened in the past. No ski/plasma ropes can be used.
If a stage manager feels that a navigator is doing anything unsafe, they pull them up. No need to question my position champ. . . . . . .

hi its mark the DRIVER of the powerful 4x4 teams 40 i would just like to say thank you to nathan (nav) his dad and there mate wayne for the out standing effort on the weekend also old skol matt and chris with the silver lux and wayne from mad fab tony and steve price for all there help and support
it has alway been a dream of mine to enter tuff truck about a month before the event i was offered to enter and compete for FREE yes FREE
on the condition i spent as little as posible
i build the rig with nathan after hrs away from my 6 kids and wife ( a big thanks to my wife your the best)
nathan told me what we should do and we did it with out him it would have broke something on the first event we made it as strong as possilbe as cheap as possible
we only got to test it 1 time before tuff truck a meni
when we arrived a tuff truck i shit my pants i had only enter in nissan trial in standard 4BS
nathan said we need a belly plate so we went to get some 12mm thick steel and with the help of all WE bilt a solid mount belly plate (welded straight to the chassis
at the show and shine everybody was making fun of us i think we got 0
the first event was the mistery night stage (im shore it was only a myster to me i nearly rolled it driving up to it) we got 80 point and broke a steering arm as nathan said we would (this was the only thing we had spares of)
the next day we had min wiraba ,rock garden and rocky horror
we started at mini wiraba and nearly rolled of the first rock but we manged to get to the big rock at the end
next we followed a buggy to rocky garden and broke another steering
then we went to rocky horror at the top nathan keep telling me to move 6 time i moved then he said gun it down the hill lucky i listened a lot of 4bs got stuck there even rolled
i was getting more comftable with the rig
then we went to heart break rig what a peformance we got stuck on diffs all the way up bloody 38s then the motor court on fire (i lost some leg hair ) nathan put it out and i knew it would not make up the hill so a just gave it all it had and over we went what a ride better than dream world
we welded the engine back in and the gearbox my brother took the gas tank to get refueled
we lined up for the travel ramp the crowd was screaming boring i was 3 4bs behind
the comintator suggested that i do something spektaculer i said i will roll it on the travel ramp if they could pick me back up straght away i knew i would be lucky to get 30cm up it with out a wheel coming of the ground so i launched it 5.2m i got before ending up on my head what a mad felling they got me out of there with in a minute (as it was pre planned)
then i went to the mud drags i found the wombat hole a walk in the park and made it through most of the corse but then my powersteering belt come of and the hi low shifter came of so i went back to the pits and fixed it no time
i came back down were i offered to launch it into the mud i should have just went to bed it took me a long time to wash the 4b as we had to what for water so i didnt get much sleep
sunday i had jaw breaker frame twister and devels marbles
roofy offered to drive the rig so he said to come and get him so i parked at the top of jaw breaker and went to get him he by that time had changed his mind so i went back up the hill over the first couple of rocks and broke the steering arm again wayne from mad fab let me use his welder and i made a tie rod out of what was leaft
by frame twister i just wanted to break something as i had had enough
so i gave it everything it was mad sitting in that beast chucking monos all over the track someone must have some mad videos of it (please send them through) and only bent a drag link so we got the winch on to it and pulled it striaght as possible
devels marbles
it tried to got slow but we were just getting stuck and the front diff started to make some noises so i just went nuts
all in all it was the best event i have ever entered i think more people should have a go 4 blocks 5,000 each and a lot work anyone can enter
it was the ride of my life
now im just going to chill out with my wife and kids as i have misted them dearly feel free to ask any Q

ARH SHIT im agreeing with you on this ????? there is a difference between puting on a show and being a risk to spectators.BUNTING DOES NOT STOP VEHICLES driver need to remember that if tyres do hook up with massive wheel spin you have to be able to stop the truck before taking a child or spectators out, this knowledge comes from taking on board critisism when i was helping run OZRock so i know what im talking about. please take it on board for next year,as you did please some of the crowd which was great just bear in mind saftey as well cheers.

i thank steve and tony and pet 4 saving tuff truck i had a great weekend i think the tracks were challanging but drive able but dont 4get the navies my navie chiped his bone on his knee and first aid bandaged his knee and there was no way mick was going 2 mis sunday

I strongly recommend that you watch at least the high quality version, but if you have a fast enough connection (and computer) then the High Def version is even better. Here are the links:

High Definition version

Regular High Quality version

Ben,
your roll was spectacular/scarey.
I was standing just out of shot to the right, watching your line and thinking what way to go and tyre placement.
then up you go, then over and down the hill, then i start thinking whens it going to stop. lucky the trees are there. (something to think carefully of next yr i think) if the trees go its a big issue.

Fella's. . . .

There is a good chance that Heartbreak Ridge will be rested for next year. Recoveries are very difficult, and slow, especially up the top of the Ridge, so we may look at a new track to replace this one.
