ln106 speedo problem

Post by james0 »

hey guys, for some unkown reason today my hilux's speedo only shows half of the speed i'm doing,

i pulled the cable out at the box put a drill on it in reverse and still would only do about 60, ive done it before on others with the same drill and it showed 120,

so i pulled out the cluster i'm looking at it but cant really figure it out, anyone had simillar problems?

thanks james

certianly, glad you asked, i pulled out the cluster, pulled it apart, there is a little copper spring tensioner thats sits on the front of the needle for the speedometer, mine had released from it mounting point and spung to foul on the next little copper arm, hard to explain without looking at it, any way where it was foul must have been exactly twice the tension, (as the arm was shorter) and therefore showing half of the speed, i just remounted it from where it was and now it works, wooot!
