go to maccas and ask someone with a vl to pop their bonnet. pretty much the same thing ;)

cooki monsta: are you just using the standard carby as the throttly butterfly? kinda hard to tell from that pic.

i'm about to get a new gas setup fitted to my car (currently has one but i qualify for the rebate) and was gonna get gas research cause it suits a turbo well and is quite neat due to being able to remove the carby. from previous threads i can see that you aren't a fan of researh and lke the tunabilIty of impco. i'm starting to think it might be a better option for me and maybe even cheaper too.

you can pm me if you want but thought it might be useful info to other people

cheers

Heres a shot of my RB30 twin turbo setup.

Image

Its changed a little from this shot as ive since fitted a gas research mixer, with interesting results, slipping the clutch straight away (fiixed with a safari tuff).

Ive become disheartened with the project of late, with constant lack of spark issues, which i tried to fix with a MSD 6AL, but it doesnt like the signal from the factory dizzy and wont idle under 3000rpm. Ive just about had a guts full with it and seriously thinking about selling turbo setup and returning it back to standard, as I dont have the time to spend on it now ive changed jobs.

tb45 turbo. Engineers/mod plate brisbane

Post by GQ_Madness »

Ive got my tb45 turbo conversion to a point i can drive around. I would like to get my mod plate for turbo and new bucket seats before i drive to much... knowing my luck i will get pulled up and sent over the pits on my first trip. Can anyone suggest a good place in brisbane prefer south side to get this done. Any tips or things to check for turbo and seats before taking it in.

i put the tb45 in my gq not sure if that will require a mod plate as well?

thanks

will post pics when i get some

Just did a power run the Dyno to see what it had, developed a bloody miss a 4000rpm which hurt it.

Bloke was saying it needs to be even richer than 12.8 a/r, thinks it's running lean.

I thought that was rich? Closed up the gap to .7mm seems to have fixed the miss not sure as just tested on the road.

Anyone running smaller gaps than .7mm? Its got a Crane HI6 with ps92 coil, Eagle 8mm LPG spiral core leads, thought that was plenty.

HEY GUYS... COULD PEOPLE POST UP WHAT THEY HAVE USED FOR IGNITION?

iv got lots of diferent story's as to what works.. some people have said i should be ok on 8psi with gas leads, 0.7 gapped plugs and thats it...?

others iv see go all out and use a boost retard and elec ignition and booster etc etc.. im about to put together my tb42 with a gt35 in the comming weeks, with impco 225 and L series mixer. and just want to know if ill need to do anything with the spark and timing.. mainly from people that have actually done it, as i know what can or what u myt think needs to be done... but would rather know from experiance thats all

thanks in advance!

definatly boost retard or lock it at 15deg or less untill you put it on a dyno. 8psi shouldn't give you greaf if your ignition is in good shape. If using gas only get some platnium or iridium cold plugs, helps with detonation.

MY SETUP THAT IV JUST DONE.
gt3076, steam pipe log manifold, xf trottle body, custom adaptor, 3" dump pipe etc etc.. ran out of time to fit the front mount intercooler so its like this for now... goes hard!! keeps up with my mates that has 160kw at the wheels, both on 35" tyres. still got new re-gapped plugs, flame thrower coil and gotta lock the dizzy also extend the air intake too... oh and need to do a clutch now.. lol gona gett a 4terrain 4t393n heavy duty clutch, ment to be 40-50% stronger over a std td42 clutch, so should be ok i hope. if anyone knows a place to get these cheap? please let me know.. or even another

About 9-10 psi (according to the auotometer guage). I was running an external gate with an 8 psi spring so who knows really? A mate dynotuned it for me and said you are restricted on how much timing we could wind into it because of the compression ratio. What I was hoping for was something good off boost and good power on boost. What I got was a 2.5 litre engine pushing 38's with no reduction and a combination of a massive turbo and vvt coming on song at 4500rpm... it was good fun to watch but not so good to do any sort of rock crawling.

Hi I have a 4.5 gu dual fuel setup and want to know if there is a fuel/mileage benefit in putting a turbo on it or if better to go a v8 in it.

only getting about 320km on 90 litres of lpg at the moment.

thanks
