Winch Truck Challenge (WTC) Round 2 Mackay May 29-30th

Post by LSG948 »

Returned on monday from the Mackay Offroad Challenge. What an awesome venue for events. The stages should be very good and extremely spectator friendly. Holdit flatz property is located approx 72kms Nth of Mackay. Turn left onto the Cathu State forest road and follow for around 2.5kms and you will be at the event site. It is suitable for 2wd access.

Entries open on the 19th of April with all forms on our website.

www.WTC4x4.com.au

There are no facilities for camping so bring your own shower/toilet. There is a nice river right at the campsite for swimming but it is a bit cool and will be even cooler by the time of the event.

Hey all, check out some of the footage from Round 1.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ilSy7ebakw

We will have port-a-loos at the event but no showers at this stage. We have a plan for this but it may not be complete by the that weekend.

As Davo said, the tracks are going to be very challenging and spectator friendly. Those that made it to Mackay Offroad Challenge would have got a glimse of what the property has to offer.

Hope to see you all there May 29 & 30.

Team Toygoat and Team Mongrel will be racing for sure, The property has awesome potential and as already said is a really good venue for spectating the competition area is nice and close to parking so very good for families wanting to head out for a look and if the marques and food stalls are set up again like the mackay challenge you would be crazy not to get a group of mates to head out and cheer (heckle) the competitors!!

hey Twon, what are you doing out middlemount? im working at the german creek shutdown on nightshift atm, and it would be a 3 and a bit hour trip im guessing, ill find out for sure though

Hey Twon, nom fees are $280, and the site is fairly easy to find. Wewill have signs off the hwy down to the site.
As Mosko said, it would be about 3 1/2hr from Middlemount. We will have maps done this week on how to get there, so watch www.wtc4x4.com.au for all the forms and details.
Entries open on the 19th of this month.

Hey Mosko, great driving on the weekend to mate, very entertaining.

BEAR 80,

Nah i just wanted to know about spectating.
my truck is too slow for winch comps and is back in NSW resting after tufftruck.
Thought while im in the area might come and have a sticky beek.
Could even learn a few things about winching.

Cheers bear, was an awesome event! wish i could race the cruiser at round two, but she will have to sit and wait until i can get it better set up,

Will there be hilldrags on the sat night at this event? or will there be a couple stages run down in the main gully?

Still in the planning mosko. At this stage the hilldrags will be run early, around 6pm or so and then a nice quick winch/drive stage in the main creek under lights for the spectators.

Spectators are $15 a day and $5 per person camping fee. Camping is right on the O' Connell river with only meters to walk for a swim. Stages will be spectator friendly so bring the family for a great weekend.

Hey everyone, our website will be updated later today/tonight. Entry forms will now be filled out online and able to be sent straight to us, along with electronic banking. Be aware that we now have our bank account set up so payment details have changed since round 1.

Make sure you download the latest set of rules from the site as well. There have been minor wording changes throughout.

A new form has also been added. Please fill this out and hand it to us as you come through the gate on the friday of the event, if you want anyone to camp with you who isn't a competitor or official.

Hey all, PLEASE make sure you put your TEAM NAME in the reference field when you are making payments, other wise we don't know who has paid.
We have 4 noms already confirmed, and are taking a max of 30, so don't muck around.
Don't forget, all forms, rule etc are at www.wtc4x4.com.au.

Hey all, currently have approx 10 teams nominated for Round 2.

Have been up to the site doing track planning, and one thing I can say is make sure your navi is fit. We will have some open high speed runs, right through to some very tight technical stuff. Will be lots of fun.
