4AGZE conversion
4AGZE conversion
i bourght a zook with this conversion and am comping it, have been told that it was common back in the day. it has been done pretty shit bits welded in everywhere. if anyone as a clean looking one could i steal some picks and what is involved with supercharging these motors because some came out charged are they the same head and block all round.
Are you sure the block and head are the same between 4AGE and 4AGZE? For example, I do know that the distributor drive location is different on the GZE (and only the GZE) and I'm also anecdotally aware that the GZE runs oil squirters under the pistons which is likely to entail changes to the block.
PS If you have a 4AGZE then it's already supercharged.
Z denotes supercharging in toyota-speak.

this should be added to the bible the amount of times a 4ag question comes up.
if you need more i'll try find my old fav's list, lots more general info around that site too.

hi
I have sierra with a 4agze motor & Sprinter box, & custom jackshaft. I purchased it in Qld mod plated there and brought it down to Sydeny.
It was done very well by a motor machanic, very happy with quality of work done
Goes great I love it had my fun and thinking of selling it soon.
Any help let me know

and they also had extra ribbing on the inside of the block to give it more strengthGwagensteve wrote:Are you sure the block and head are the same between 4AGE and 4AGZE? I would have thought the GZE would have had significantly lower compression than the GE. Just because the block or head is from a gze doesn't mean it's running gze pistons or has a compression ratio to handle boost.
Sorry not trying to be a pita.

the 4agze also runs different internals to deal with the additional power these engine make and are capable of making.
so is yours a ze but without the supercharger fitted?
alot of guys rip the charger off and turbo them for better top end power - not that great for the intended use in a sierra though - stay with the charger.
the 4a series from 4a - 4afe - 4age - black top - silver top - 4agze are all significantly different - from carbi to supercharged efi, differant heads between all the models etc, the blocks are similar but a bit heavier in the ze etc.

cheers to all for help
All GZE's have the 7rib block they also have oil squirters & forged/semi forged piston's (depending on who you listen to) & stronger rods.
GZE's also come in different variety's, here is a couple of them,
ae82 & early ae92, bigport with a dissy & air flow meter(AFM)
late ae92 & ae101, smallport have a crankangle sensor(looks like dissy with blankoff cap)Same location as dissy,
twin 2 post coilpacks on the back of the head & map sensor (no AFM)
Some ge's have the same 7 rib block, oil squirters & rods but there are so many different variants its not funny.
can you post a couple of pics of it, what coilpack setup ? twin 2post or 4 coils,if you measure the distance between the injector rail bolts i can tell if it is small or bigport
hope this helps Drew
