My old engine on stock boost would hit 620 post turbo easy, pulled engine out due to head gasket leeking and found the pump timming was out (pump was moved towards engine about 5mm) i think 5mm moved away from engine will advance the timming.

would like to hear more about the cam grind too as looking at doing up old engine over the next 18 months.

Cam specs found little card, BUt not sure on what std grind is
Was about $200 for cam grind and to face the 12 cam followers

Running Clearance" In .014" Ex .014"

LIFT @ LOBE: In .283" Ex .283

Advertised Timing

Ex Opens 65 deg Closes 29 deg
In Opens 19 deg Closes 74deg

.050" Valve Timing

Ex Duration 208 deg
In Duration 208 deg

Setting Specifications

Inlet Lobe Lift @ TDC on the overlap .030"

If anyone has the specs on the std cam you can compare the two. My SD books dont mention the cam profile, only service checks and lobe lift

Pongo.... Hard for me to coment on the performance of the cam. I ve got a brand new engine back to 6psi boost. I know it is a wholy shit more louder and a different exhaust note. 2500rpm up sounds a whole lot different. I think it has a lot more torque off boost, also when it gets sniff of boost it seems to pull very hard,, or this could be the result of new slugs, liners and that crap

As stated the i needed the cam done out of 4 spares all were shagged, so std or not it was same price

SD33T with GT2860RS v2.0

Post by 84mksd33t »

Took a few hours off today and went to see Matt at United Fuel - I had a few ideas for things to try with the injector pump and the boost compensator.
So we did a few runs on the dyno, adjusting no boost fuel. Learn a few things about how the compensator works and the travel available in the rack.
An interesting fact is that too much no boost fuel will decrease the amount of midrange power available but increase peak HP.

We modded the compensator internally so that it would start fueling as the turbo boosted, not once the turbo had already boosted (hard to explain). This resulted in a gain of 20RWKW in conjunction with the FrozenBoost WAIC. The difference is night and day.

So GT2860RS v2.0 comes up trumps
118kw/160hp at the engine
335nm of torque
97kw at the wheels
The GT2860RS has really come alive and is more responsive than a boosted stock turbo with a smaller exhaust housing.
13psi is available by 2000rpm - Up from 9psi.
Full boost at 2200rpm - Down from 2500rpm
I did an EGT run up one of the hills here in Perth - Did not exceed 500 degrees.
Dyno chart:
The green __ __ __ __ line is power at the motor BEFORE in kw.
The green__________ line is power at the wheels BEFORE in kw.
The blue __ __ __ __ line is power at the motor AFTER in kw.
The blue __________ line is power at the wheels AFTER in kw.

Big thanks goes to Matty for his time today. The smile on his face after picking up 20rwkw was pretty priceless!
