Hilux oil pressure guage, please help

Post by Lil'lux »

Just driving my hilux, 2.8 diesel and noticed the needle on the oil pressure guage climbing past the 'h'. What's this mean? Is something going to blow?

It's not a std guage hey?, have never seen a stock oil pressure guage in a hilux, if its aftermarket guage and working properly id be having a look around, about the only thing that could be wrong is possibly the pressure release valve in the oil system. to much oil pressure will break stuff.

It's a sr5 model, built into the standard cluster so I can only assume it's standard as well

Check the resistance over the sensor, i have no idea what it should be, for a oil sender to fail is pretty uncommon from my experience, replace it with an aftermarket one and see, how longs it been going over the H and when does it do it.

At idle it's normal, even revving it in idle and there is very little moment, first is normal, but then start to drive in second and above and anything higher than about 1500 rpm and it starts to climb up again.
