D4D 07 hliux faulty injector.
My old mans hilux with 70000km on it has a faluty injector, been quoted $1495 to fix buy toyota.
Has anyone known of any faults with them and what usually makes them stop working?
Is it possible to clean them? and apparantly toyota has to scan them and time them before they go back in sounds weird to me.
any good diesel work shops around melb?

FJ 73, army green ,snorkel, high mount, dual bats,draws,
the go with the scan tool.
Each injector has its own operating code that is corresponds to the ecu
So when u replace the injector u have to program a the existing code onto the new injector
Ive have seen countless injectors fail on the D4D motors in hiluxs,prados.
Few were cold knock issues but majority were bad fuel.
I think the standard of fuel and fuel storage really has to be improved in Australia or a lot of cars are going to be damaged

As said, poor quality fuel, water or lack of filter changes can cause damage. What are the symptoms of the vehicle?
Most common rail injectors have a calibration code that nedds to be entered into the ecu. They can be cleaned, subject to what is wrong with them.

If you are replacing one injector you do not need to relearn it you can just fit it....
if you replace the lot they need programing for the vehicle..

Care to explain that reasoning when each injector has its own hexadecimal code which is unique to that injector?
Yes it make work without recoding the ecu, but why do toyota, denso and the factory workshop manual contradict what you are saying?

From experience... ;-) the computer will relearn the code itself if you swap over one injector... but take my information for what you want...

The symptons started off with bit of a ruff idle from new, but as the hilux had after market suspension when it got taken back to toyota they just pointed the finger at the suspension.
He also had a auto transmission guy look at it and he though it was the transmission mounts, brand new car though with faults?
Up untill around 65000 it just had the ruff idle, now it is extremly ruff like a hot cam and knocks when first starting up.
All filters are replaced as per toyota reccomend but i think there stretching it out to much.
