Magnetic protractor
Guys I've been keeping my eyes out occasionally in trade catalogues for those magnetic angle finders or protractors and seeing that one in the 4wd DVD had me looking again but for the life of me I cannot find anyone in Qld that show then on a web site or do an online service. Have onyl found them in WA or Vic and the price of postage is rediculous, if I could find a US retailer that will send overseas I'm sure I could get it posted from them for similar cost and of course the purchase price is lower.
Anyone know somewhere in Bris or thereabouts that stock them, or a cheap online store or something. I'm sure there are a couple of brands but one is Empire Level (#36 magnetic protractor).
Is there a better or better value for money version around.

Thanks didn't think Bunnings would have them. What brand did they have was it the Empire or something else. We have no Bunnings so will have to get mate in Bris to chase up for me.MUD80D wrote:try bunnings thats where i got my one

home brew cooling in progress
What brand/style was your digital one. I've seen some cheapish ones online that are a small square box and they are around $60 but not sure of their quality.
The one I really like is a Erick Miracle Point Magnetic Base Protractor, Model 900. They are from the states but new they are on ebay for $135US and then about $40US to post. They also have a centre point indicator for finding the exact centre of the tube for hole drilling. Unfortunately we do no do enough tube work at work and I do not do enough at home to warrant spending that much. There is a second hand one but they wont post http://cgi.ebay.com/Erick-Miracle-Point ... 1c118cc302

Thanks guys I'll have a hunt around when I go to Brissie on Friday. Thought they might be a bit hard to find as I could not find any reference to them online in Qld. Rang Hare and Forbes who had nothing so thought they might be a bit thin on the ground as general supply places. Had a good look at the States too due to exchange rate and price but could not find anywhere that would post them overseas or if they did they would only post Fed Ex which can make small light things quite expensive and as dear if not dearer than local. Found them online in WA and Vic but they wanted over $30 just to post them.
Pic of the digital would be nice, I could claim it for work to offset the higher cost.

This is the best to use, forget digital it's too slow.
There is nothing faster than glancing at a spirit level and these give 360 degrees of angle with the ability to measure inside and outside of bend angles quickly.
They are pricey though.
Regards Andrew.

I use and love my bosch angle meter.
I never use my empire one that you are describing. Unless you have a jig table and a bender packed and bolted plumb you are better measuring the bend to itself.
