97 Hilux 2wd to 4wd.

Post by Loanrangie »

Ok i admit i know bugger all about luxes, my brother has a 2wd 97 twincab and i was wondering if it was feasible to swap the diffs/ transfer etc over . A body swap would be easier and apart from the front suspension (springs/torsion bars) the rest should be straight forward , what year did they go from leaves to IFS ?
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

would it not be easier to buy a 4wd?

Yes but my brother has a mate with a very rusty hilux and he asked me if it was possible to do the swap plus he is an unemployed single dad with full custody of his son so if its doable i'd help him.

I'm pretty sure they went IFS in late 96. Could be wrong there though, only going from memory.

Talk to Bubs, he's been down that road.
