My mate has recently purchased a 3.0l qq which he has discovered has a rather loud clunk comming from the front end. It only happens when in 4x4 and climbing steep inclines, naturally the noise is comming from the front end. He had read up that aparently the gq locking hubs are weak so I pulled them off and had a look and they seem fine. They are engaging and there is no sign of any wear on the splines as if the hub had been slipping off them.........
I thought maybe a cv but I chucked it in reverse and did the whole lock to lock thing in both 4x4 and 2wd under both soft and heavy excelleration and it didnt make a sound
Im not familiar with gq's so I was wondering if this sounds familiar to any of you. Any suggestions?

gq clunking in the front end
Jabber gone. Now have 98 nissan terrano and a 94 4.2ldiesel rv troopy on 33s slowly getting the fancy bits. How the hell do I change my user name?
Under drivers feet then prob mounts there need replacing.
Check fron panhard mounts too. Cup hand around and get someone to rock car side to side. You will feel if worn. Do not use poly bushes here.
Also if suspension modded and shocks too short they can top out and make a knocking noise, same with lower spring mounts. Spring turns as it compresses and extends. ARB 5mm spacers work good there to quieten them down.
