hey all,
did a bit of a search on the forum and had no luck so i'm going to ask here.
the problem is that my alternator belt is loose and i'm not too sure how to tighten it.
i know on my 1hz (75 cruiser just to specify) how to adjust the fan belt, thats easy as, but for some reason what i think is the alternator belt adjuster bolt seems to have no effect.
the bolt i think is the alternator belt adjuster is located (assuming your standing in front of the engine) a bit to the left from the front of the engine and has a 12mm bolt head with what seems like a really large torx fitting/hole in the centre of it, and is facing the wheel well.
does it sound like i've got the right bolt? i looked in the toyota manual and it shows nothing about tensioners.
if it IS the right bolt then it looks like i'm in for new belts as they arent getting any tighter.
seems stupid to be asking such a simple question that i should know as a regular maintenance thing, but i've only had the car for the last 5000km so please excuse me.
ALSO, not sure if anyone knows this, but i pulled out the brake fluid and fuel filter sensor leads to test if the warning lamps would come on, but nothing happened? is this right or should they be lit up?
cheers for all the help lately, great forum for learning!
