This is true although every comp we compete in up here is for unregistered cars an my understanding is they are insured properly (by the 4wd park owners - we have 3 of them up here that run unregistered comps)
I think the CCDA is only looking at registered winch speed events and dont really have an interest in the unregistered competitions.

SAM id be looking into your insurance woes a bit better and i think you may find that the park owner would have public liability , but if you were to kill or mame a spectater i recon you would b on your own. i say htis as we have just finished doing insurance for our footy club and the same applys if i a spectater hurt another spectator he can sue me but if a member of uor club was to hert a spectator as a registered club (INCORPERATED) we would be covered and if understand my example you will se what i meen .BTW sam can you do the homework out of curiosity to see if you the driver is covered CCDA can only be a good thing, if it can gain enough momentum and support from the competitors ,drivers and 4x4ers in general it will evolve with time.Remeber no rule book was ever written in one day, and like many have already said once up and running changes can be made as the assoc grows, thats not to say that if you still want to compete in unregoed comps that there will be anyone stopping you , but weve got to be in this thing for the looong haul. And lets face it who these days can afford six hundred thousand dollers, to pay for someones leg that got injured when you hit the gas instead of the brake? when two months earlier you were given the oppertunity to join an affiliated body which may have eased this problem for u and the spectater. (THIS IS WORST CASE SENARIO)

Took us 10 hours in a new tarago hire car last time. That was going down the Pacific then cutting across at Raymond Terrace through the back of Maitland then up to Singlton. This was leaving from Loganholme and picking Nick up on the Goldcoast.

Not every one has $1000 dollars to throw a way to get 2 free shirts 2 hats and seat covers. As an entrant of the last 2 TTC I won't be spending $1000 to enter the next one.
And NO I don't drink or smoke.

I think the title and the publicity is what most people are after.
Possibly one thing to look at is the past years requirements to have absolutely no stickers on the rigs except for the regulation stickers that tuff truck hands out. I do believe that tuff truck should provide stickers that they want the rigs to run but I think that these shouldnt take up all available areas and that comptitors should be able to run their own sponsor stickers in some areas.
For example tuff truck may require front of bonnet, front guards and rear quarters and the rest of the rig is free. Obviously the proportioning can be worked out but at least give the competitors some opportinity to give some publicity to the companies that have supported them.

That was a requirement? That is one of most stupid things I've ever heard of, and should be changed without question..
From what i hear in the wind the new owners are planning for May next year.
Also the new owners are planning to have the rules and regs. out this year around may, june july.
So ruff do you think 11 months is enough to save up for the so called t-shirts, hats and seat covers... ohhh theres also the thousands of people now knowing who you are.... and the possiblity to take home the title.

What are you on about??? I already said the cost of the entry is no concern to me. I dont have a sponsor and I would compete for bottle caps.
As Strange rover has said its the chance winning the title "TUFFEST TRUCK in AUS" and if not at least having the chance to compete against the winner of that title that i will enter this event.
No amount of Prizes or money interest me at all. Although it is a nice addition.
Sam Keck is the one that has a problem with the shirts,hats and seat covers.
This event has so far been the premier event in Aus. And i hope it continues that way.
I know this is a bit off topic, but if there was a pool of potential competitor vehicles from which, we (the public) had to choose 30 tuff truck competitors from, which vehicles would be included in this preliminary pool ?
Im going to start a short list of vehicles I would like to see included in this pool, (registered and un-registered, imagine it wasn’t an issue), feel free to add a vehicle or argue the inclusion of a particular vehicle for Australia’s craziest event,
Remember, this is tuff truck, not winch truck, not campin truck, not rock truck, not mall truck, the courses test vehicles in all areas.

Anyway as to the prize thing it is very hard to get money out of companies but easier to get product because a. it costs less for them and b/ because it is marketing.
Also lets wait for official word on what is happening not more wild speculation. It has been stated in this thread that word will be given when details are finalised. So sit tight and wait.

the reason I got into the extreme side of this sport was to compete at tuff truck. Now I have the best truck I can afford (so it is cheap compared to some other guys, like thier front axle is worth more than my whole rig.) BUT I would love to have a go. My biggest concern is, I now have a lot of money into a rig which is competitive at tuff truck, and no dates for the event. (All dressed up nowhere to go)

TUFF TRUCK IS HAPPENING... and i would put money on may next year. As from what i have hear it has just changed hands and the new owners are chasing the council for DA and Insurance and listening to CCDA... and i am sure they will let everyone now many many months in advance the rules and regs so that if anyone has to modify there rig to be a competitor the have a fiar go.

Yes this was in the rules when they were sent to the compeditors but after allmost everybody jumped up and down about it it was changed. From the B pillar forward was for TTC stickers and from there back was for yourself. This is common practice for a lot of comps.

Jeez Sam - I would think that you af all people would have got the most value for money out of your previous tuff truck entries. I think that your results in tuff truck really given you a lot of credibility as a successful fabricator of custom 4wds - probably more so than any other entrant because you produced such a competitive rig from such simple parts.
You would be crazy not to enter again given the publicity that the event will create (especially if they let you run your own stickers)

No worries its hard to read a thread like this when you come along so late and still keep track of who said what.
The list that Rhys has posted are some of the trucks that i would want to compete against. The bigger the better.
I have made some enquiries about the Tuff Truck Comp for 2004 and have been informed that it is not happening.
The message was as follows:

The new TuffTruck management is currently in the process of taking over the Tuff Truck event. I am dissapointed to advise that it cannot be run this year. We are already working hard towards TuffTruck Challenge 2005 the dates and details for which are still to be announced.
