Has anyone ever had problem's with Staun internal beadlocks?
Looking at investing in some Stuan internal beadlocks,I ve always used mechanical locks.Just wana know if anyone has ever had drama's with them. ???

Never had a tyre off the rim with them even at comp at 6 psi and they lock the bead both sides. However when you get mud in the bead of the tyre and slowly deflate they are more of a pain to clean out, just by the nature you have more to strip down.
Over all I have been happy with mine for the last 6 years.

I've run mechanical and Stuans.
Stauns take more maintenance BUT if you do this maintenance then they are very good.
Lighter and they also increase stability at low pressures by reducing sidewall flex. I found with the same tyres on the same truck we could run a lower pressure with the same control. eg I could go to 6psi in the rear and when with mechanicals less than 8 and it would just slide.

93 Nissan Pathfinder / Terrano Turboed VH45, GQ Trans and T-case, coil overs, hydraulic winch and fair bit of other stuff. (Currently a pile of parts in the workshop)
We tried running up to 60 psi in them but sh1t still got in past the bead, and would make them go flat.
I wouldnt cll them a "beadlock" as they dont lock the bead, just to run more PSI in that part of the tyre to help keep the bead in place.
The last 2 sets we have fitted up for others have had one or 2 in each set of 4 that leaked from the valve assembly as well.

Some people seem to have constant trouble with them, other just dont. I have a set of older second hand stauns, owned them about a year and a half now and only had one issue. One tyre went slowly flat due to crap in the bead.
They are more maintenance than mechanicals. After my tassie trip I need to clean the beads out. I run the bead lock at 45psi and have run the tyres down to 4psi on my cruiser.

Ran them in competition for a year.. Biggest PITA..
I actually won't fit them any more as no matter how much you tell people they still come back complaining when they leak..

Up this way with the Offroad Racing/winch challange scene so big we probably had about 20 sets getting around up this way...
Of those sets I think about 3 of them might still be in use...
Every other set has had some major drama and they've headed down the mech beadlock path with no issues now...

i had beadlocks, bought brand new stauns / rims / centipedes all together.
every trip i would have at least one equalise (i.e. leak from the staun into the tyre) rendering the beadlock useless.
i only ever aired them down to 12PSI and in the end after having one tyre fall off the rim due to the staun having a hole in it i only ever aired down to 18Psi as if i didnt have bead locks.
ive now got mechanical and havent had any dramas with them!

I've had them for 1.5 years now, apart from the valve snapping off (stupid design, the stem is metal and not rubber) I haven't had any issues at all.
My tyres don't leak, the beads don't come off (6psi in a 3tonne Patrol) and I don't even maintain them much.......
I run the stauns at 35-40 psi, I heard if you run them too hard they can puncture easier, I haven't had one puncture yet.
I guess I'm one of those people that never have dramas with them, I'd buy them again

touch wood i have neva had a problem with my stauns after an easy 2 years
took my time installed them very carefully and havent had to even look at them since no leaks nothing in the beads and that is also running water in the tires aswell
if they equalize or loose pressure something is installed right

It takes a pretty sharp copper to spot internal beadlocks and pin you for it.
Anybody can spot external beadlocks and they are a good enough reason to pull you over and look at the rest of the truck.
I would place external beadlocks in the same box as huge lifts, oversize tyres and exo cages for 'pull me over' factors.
